Newer Ace3DS+ cards can't be updated. They release a new card every time the old one got blocked.
Sorry for digging up an older thread, but this is still valid. I recently got a DSi and a friend's son a DSlite. I have a DSTWO and thought it'd be nice to let him use the Blue Gateway card for the DSlite.
I looked at my PCB, it looks similar to the 003 (e.g. the same 3 vias on the 4th, 5th and 6th pin from the left) except there are no markings. I've used the modified _DSMENU.DAT for FW Wood 1.62, so thanks.
Were there any updates on the attempts to flash the bootloader (is that "AOS 2.13"?)

I don't know if the 3DS Setup menu exists in the modified Wood.162 FW but if it does you might want to inform your friend's son not to use the setup 3DS menu and to read the options very carefully if he ever gets into the menu.
I own an R4i Gold RTS 3DS from R4iDS.cn it is a clone of their blue card for the R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe kit.
I accidentally went into the menu and pressed "B" quickly without reading the menu and it executed the MSET exploit on a fat DS, if I didn't have the DS firmware set to autoboot detected cards I would have had a brick I installed flashme to get the DS back to a working state.
The MSET exploit in fact does work on DS(l)(i) and will crash the firmware but instead of just crashing the firmware it destroys the firmware much like the old trojan roms that existed some time ago.
The exploit menu is backwards "B" button being to execute the exploit and "A" button being the exit button, the menu is accessible from the R4 menu when the Start button is pressed.
Just don't put the Gateway installer on the microSD card if you are not going to use it on the target system.
It's not embedded into the kernel or anything, it's a .nds homebrew file which you can simply remove / add just like any other ROM.
As for the attempts to update the bootloader, no ... there are no updates and probably never will.
The philosophy behind it is that IF you realy want to use it on a 3DS beyond FW 9.2.0 you wouldn't buy a Gateway anyway (which comes with the blue card), since you couldn't use either.
But if you buy it for a system which is <=9.2.0, you can just install the .cia file which cearp created, to whitelist pretty much every NDS flashcard and use it on an updated 3DS (including the blue card), so I never looked any further into it.
So for the peeps who are beyond 9.2.0 I would recommend a Sky3DS (for 3DS ROMs) and any other NDS flashcard, like the R4i Gold whatever card, which is cheap and pretty much always up to date when it comes to bootloader updates for new 3DS FWs.
Or if you realy are after throwing out your moneyZ you can go for the DSTWO, which seems to be a community favourite.

Is there any tutorial on how to make this work for another clone flashcards? Mine is a "2014" labeled R4 SDHC Dual-Core
Thanks iCEQB, just wanted to check if this discussion/attempt went "offline" since, as you explained, there are only few situations where this is actually useful. For my 3DS and now DSi, I have a DSTWO which I picked up just in time as they have sadly disappeared so you're basically still looking at an R4i 3DS RTS for around $18.
Will the current Gateway Blue bootloader work with the latest DSi and DS Lite firmware revisions?
I'm just thinking, though, would having the current working knowledge about browser exploits and access to both the DSi firmware through NUS Downloader and the 3DS TWL_FIRM be of any use on a regular DSi (similar how PSP crypto was 'hacked' using the PSP emulator in the PS3 firmware)? I never realized that relating to the DSi hardware unit itself the community still has to admit utter defeat.

Overall it's been great!But sometimes my DS freezes coming out of Standby.
Formatting SD fixed freezing (old SD maybe failing)
Should I flash my card's actual firmware, like the guy did in the first post? - looks scary

Sometimes games won't run if the micro SD is too fragmented. Format the card and copy the games back.
another possiblity is using the windows format tool, it causes issue with some games on certain versions of wood the best tool to use is panasonic's SD formatter with the full(OverWrite) option. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
That dumb sd formatting software doesn't do shit.
How can it do anything better than windows formatting when it has to use the same generic card reader drivers?
Explain the fact that after using the software games that had issues tend to work, I figure because the Full(OverWrite) option is actually a zero-out option. I know of 2 games that are affected by this but each game is affected only on a specific file system size.
