Ok first, if the NX is a handheld console hybrid, doesn't mean the handheld wouldn't have its own games and game slot and secondly, the handheld wouldn't have the actual power of a console, rather it's standalone or not.

We really need a PS4 emulator and a Xbox One emulator for the N3DS.

How about New3DS emulator on the old3ds?
I mean theoretically if there was a Card that was like the DSTWO (3DSTWO anyone?) That had like an Entire 128MB+ RAM built into it and also allowed the Circle Pad Pro to be used as the new Mini Stick thing then something like that might theoretically be possible But don't quote me on that because I am by no means a hardware person

Well yes but the thing is, DSTWO used its own CPU to emulate GBA (?). Unless you can fit a new3ds hardware into a cart, it can work.

yeah i know old 3ds is weak but new nintendo 3ds have better hardware with quad core cpu and more ram....

can somebody port it and run under citra 3ds emu maybe ?

ppsspp have multiple version for symbian, maemo, pandora, meego, ios, etc......why not for new 3ds

http://www.ppsspp.org/downloads.html
The n3DS is not that much more powerful than the PSP and the general rule is that you need at least 10x the processing power of a console in order to emulate it. It doesn't help that they use two completely different architectures either (PSP is MIPS I believe whereas 3DS is ARM) which makes emulation a lot harder as there isn't always a 1:1 translation of any given instruction.
It's just not going to happen. Any smartphone nowadays, even the cheap ones are far more powerful than a PSP or a 3DS. That makes emulation possible.

I really hope the next 3DS will atleast have a better GPU than Intel HD Graphics (what most 200 dollar laptops have) and also a better cpu so that atleast a N64 emulator would be possible.

just like what happened with the N64 ram pack?
i tell you what happened, N64 had a jumper pack that putted more ram on the console, which sounds good right?
but that shit made issues like timings, making the console having more ram, but that extra ram is slower...

you can use any memory as ram, the problem is always timings, speeds, and how its done..
if you made a cart with 128mb of ram and even a cpu, you would end up with something full of shuttering and you would end up having months of work to make a software capable of doing the job fairly good
but, you could make the entire system on a card and the 3ds would display it, but whats the point of that?

What is the purpose of fitting the next iteration of the 3ds a 'much better' gpu? That means costs will rise (and you wanted to put a desktop gpu). Also, putting a faster gpu will mean that it has the capability to run 'better' games and might render the old 3ds useless and unable to play newer games. That's why there are very few exclusives for the new 3ds because nintendo wants their games to reach more people. and some people can not or will not afford the newest versions of their handheld consoles.

the latest ps3/x360/ds/psp game can run on the first versions of their respective consoles.

Its not happening buddy, a PSP is like 40-50 bucks. And besides all the PSP's can be hacked nowadays since the CFW is signed and therefor can boot on every PSP's in the world

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
