If my 3DS is open in emuNAND, will my sysNAND pick up Streetpass and Spotpass or is sysNAND essentially 'Off'?

Is it at all possible to run rxTools without using sysNAND to connect to the browser exploit?
No, if you are booted into emuNAND, it will interact with Streetpass and Spotpass and your sysNAND will not.

Yes, you can use the MSET (DS profile) exploit instead of the browser exploit to launch rxTools.

Is it possible to get on eshop with 9.2 and ninjhax to get ironfall? If so how can I do that
Yes, you can boot one of the CFWs in sysNAND and use Free Multi Patcher to spoof and gain access to the eShop. I believe it was reported that Ironfall will only boot on 9.5+ though, so I'm not sure if there's any point in downloading it on your sysNAND.

Hi, I'm still confused about the save files issue... Just got my Gateway, haven't used it yet.

1) If I installed the latest FW emuNAND (whatever the number is right now) and stayed on 9.2 sysNAND (old 3DS), could I still use my retail cartridge Bravely Default saves on whatever-NAND, or they'd appear corrupted? I understand it'd be a problem if I downgraded to sysNAND 4.x, but I'm not sure what happens when I keep the current sysNAND FW. In other words, should I finish the game first, or I'm safe to use Gateway as long as I don't downgrade the sysNAND?

2) The same question, this time for the eShop (actually bought) version of Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies, and Pushmo/Crashmo. Will their save files stay usable?

Thank you!
Your save files for both carts and eShop games will be fine since they were created with the proper save keys. You can boot in Gateway's classic mode to play your games with the latest updates or newer game carts.

Thank you! And am I right to assume that the saves would get corrupted as soon as I downgraded to sysNAND 4.5? (EUR Bravely Default requires 6.2, I think.) Or they'd be fine anyway?

Also, I can use any retail game to dump a private header, right? Like a cheap Layton Miracle Mask etc.

Would anyone happen to know what 3DSXL version number that contains any firmware versions from 9.5.0-22 and under? Preferably looking for one with firmware version 9.4.x to be on the safe side. I would like to use PKHeX and Ram2Sav and it doesn't support any 3DSXL firmware that's 9.5.0-23 and above. My current 3DSXL (version number SW40xxxxxx) is updated to 9.9.x and I was hoping to change it out and get another one with a version number that contains firmware 9.4.x at my local Gamestop.

Hi i have a gateway that I use on my 2DS. Now im getting a pre downgraded 4.5 3DS XL and plan to use the gateway on it. However I gave away the blue card so someone could use it on their DS lite since the 2DS didn't need it.

Can you buy the gateway blue card separately? Or will any 3DS compatible DS flash cart work? If so what is the cheapest one I can buy? Also can you do the web browser exploit on 4.5 to launch the gateway without the blue card?

Is there a way to get themes on new 3ds emunand? Or for that matter, is there a way to get on the eshop in emunand on the new 3ds at all, or are we just waiting on an update from gateway?

Install Free Multi Patcher
Thank you! I'll give this a try later.
Speaking of noob questions and CIA files. How do I uninstall them? I'm worried about installing too much and becoming disorganized or needing to revert changes I make.

Also, what's the difference between DevMenu and Title Manager/BBM? They seem really similar on the surface to me.

Any particular reason why I'm on the latest emunand 9.9 but the system keeps telling me to update? I cannot access the Eshop either.

Simply start up DevMenu/BBM (BBM is an improved version of DevMenu, so most of the basic functions are the same), scroll and look for the CIA you want to uninstall in the program list --> press X for delete and A to confirm it (it's pretty much all shown on the menu options ^__^;;.

I still can't 100% figure out what SD cards do I need to buy for Gateway. Is the following correct?

If I want to play .3ds or .3dz games (cartridge copies), I need a high-capacity microSD card to use with the Red Cart for games, and only a 4GB (internal) normal-sized SD card will suffice for saves and emuNAND boot.

If I want to play .cia games (eShop game copies), it's vice versa: I need a high-capacity (internal) normal-sized SD card for games, saves and emuNAND, and only a 2 or 4GB microSD card will suffice for...I don't know what for, Red Cart updates, perhaps?

Am I right?

And one more unrelated question: How do I keep access to my purchased eShop games, pre-installed games and saves if I have to format the SD card in order to install emuNAND? Use another card? Backup (how?)? What if I downgrade?

Thank you!

Thanks again Pado. One more thing came to mind. I've seen "FBI" cia installer mentioned. Is that better or worse than BBM, or used for something different entirely? Should I have all three installed just to be sure, or is it just a matter of picking one and going with it?

Yes you pretty much got it down. If you plan on getting a lot of 3ds 3dz files you need a good sized micro SD card to go in the red card. CIA files are for the internal SD card. I personally have a 32 GB in each. My micro SD is full and I only have a couple of games on the internal. So I personally wish I would have went for a 64gb micro sd instead. So I might upgrade there.

Just backup all the files on your SD card to your computer with a SD card reader before creating the emuNAND and put the files back on it after the emuNAND format.

FBI is a legal and opensource CIA installer while the other two contains copyrighted code (illegal). And depending on certain picky "situations" the one installer might work and the other might not (for example, n3DS mset cia installation).

Lol, yeah. I kind of answered my own question in a way because I just upgraded my emunand from 8.1J to 9.5J and trying to do it with Devmenu killed my emunand, good thing I backed it up with emunand tool. FBI was just giving an error, and BBM ended up installing it perfectly. Figure I'll just keep all on hand and be sure to back things up a lot.
