Hi,

I have a Sky3DS, O3DSXL on the 9.9 update, Powersaves Dongle and I don't know how to get ROM dumps. With my header I got from Super Mario 3D Land, I get error 002-0123 for going online on Mario Kart 7 and the same with my Street Fighter header. And I kinda don't get what ROM dumps are. Can anyone explain?

Thanks!

Ok I think I get it now. By 'Gateway' you're referring to the gateway app, and not the gateway flashcart, correct? It's a bit confusing because of that.

Would performing a system transfer from my current 9.8 O3DS to a N3DS once I got one force that N3DS to update? I think what I might have to do for now is get a Sky3DS and put off getting the N3DS, since sky functions as cubic ninja which I'd need for it anyway. But regardless I want to make sure I can system transfer to N3DS once I get one and still have modding options.
In this case it applies to both the app and the flashcart; you launch the flashcart through the app.

Currently, as the N3DS doesn't support 9.8 emuNAND (yet), you cannot system transfer from a 9.8 O3DS to an N3DS without updating the N3DS.

Hi,

I've gotten an 3ds and i want to buy an flashcard for it. I've already checked the comparison list but as a noob as myself i can't really decide which one i should buy. Anyone who could just could say which are the best ones and why in noob language?

Thanks.

Edit: I have 9.5.0-22E version and what are the dangers of getting banned?
Since you're on 9.5, Sky3DS is currently your only option. As long as you use a private header for your roms, there's a low risk of being banned.

Rom dumps are copies of the data on the game cartridges. They are also called backups, because they are a backup of the game's data.

Yes, you only need one of the games once to install the MSet exploit. After that, you don't need to use the game ever again to launch the exploit. Sky3DS will work to run the exploit, just download a rom of Cubic Ninja, install it on the Sky3DS and you can run the exploit through it. Yes, the OoT and CN exploits work on the New 3DS.
Are there any guides how on to install the MSet exploit? I got a copy of PAL Cubic Ninja, so now I just need to find that QR code and scan it. But I can't seem to find anything on MSet, everything relates back to Rxtools.

P.S My goal is to make my 3DS region free, I've got a huge collection of US games and would like to continue using them. Installing roms into the launcher (I think that's the .cia thing), and being able to hold multiple games on one flash cart is also a plus.

Looking to do this on an Australian new 3DS running 9.0.0-20E

I understand that there are CFW for the 3DS now, that don't require any flash carts but I don't believe any of them support the n3DS correct?

P.P.S
As far as SDcards go, the Gateway supports exfat and the 3DS internal slot only supports fat32?
So 32GB in the internal and 128GB on the gateway would work?
Has anyone tried formatting a 64GB or above card as fat32 and running with the 3DS?

This is kind of a noob question but also I am curious in general about it. How come I can downgrade the system menu so that the DS Profile hack works on the new3DS/n3ds except it won't launch the Homebrew channel or other .dat menus? Just wondering what the technical reason was.

Hey all :D.
First Sry for my bad english, i am from germany^^.

I have a Question: i never thought that a 3Ds have or becomes a Homebrew, that runs trough the SD Card. Now its to late for me ;(, because i have the (old) 3Ds XL Version: 9.8.0-25E.
I found ago 30min the Rxtools and would to downgrade my 3Ds XL for the emuNAND (or sysNAND), and i tried a downgrade from this tutorial:
If i go with the 3Ds now on the gateway site, then my 3Ds says in the bot downscreen: Loading Gateway.
But nothing happens, i wait over 60Min and then i read that i have first to downgrade my 3Ds XL.

Now: will be ever comes a downgrade for the (old) 3Ds version: 9.8.0-25E? maybe in x Months?or x Years?
if yes, then i wait, i Promise!
Or is there already a way to downgrade my 3Ds XL?

ps. I dont have the game Cubic ninja, and i dont have any flashcard.I have only 3 Games and a 4GB SDHC Card.

Edit: i doed already the Steps, now i am at Step 5. from the Video.
I download even the files and put it in my 4GB SDHC Card root folder^^.

These are the instructions from the Gateway website to install the MSET exploit on the N3DS (note that you must boot into Gateway mode in sysNAND, not emuNAND):
1) Copy the Gateway 3DS ULTRA Launcher.dat to your New 3DS microSD card
2) Copy mset_<region>.cia to your New 3DS microSD card (where <region> is your console's region)
3) Copy “DevMenu.3ds” to your Gateway 3DS microSD card.
4) Boot into the Gateway menu with your preferred entrypoint (Zelda or Cubic Ninja)
5) Select the new “NVRAM INSTALL” option from the menu, proceed with installation.
6) Once installed, boot into Gateway mode and launch DevMenu.3ds from the multirom menu (press SELECT)
7) Start DevMenu and import mset_<region>.cia from your SD card.
8) Reboot console and verify you can now boot into Gateway mode with the classic System Settings DS Profile method. (Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS profile)
9) Enjoy! No more cartridge swapping required to use Gateway 3DS on New 3DS!

Pasta CFW and ReiNAND CFW both support the N3DS now. ReiNAND was just updated to provide support for the N3DS and has emuNAND support; however, it still requires Cubic Ninja to boot.

ReiNAND has emuNAND and region free, so it's starting to look pretty good. Gateway also supports region free, so if you have a Gateway, you can go that way too.

Yes, Gateway supports exFAT and the 3DS supports FAT32, so a 32GB internal SD and 128GB Gateway SD should work. I have not tried using a 64GB SD with my 3DS, so I'm not sure if that would work.

You must be on firmware 9.2 or lower to launch Gateway. Since you are on 9.8, you cannot launch it.

There may be another exploit for 9.3 and above on the 3DS eventually, but it's impossible to say for certain; only time will tell. The only way to downgrade a 9.3 or above 3DS is if you have a NAND backup from the same 3DS before it was on 9.3 or above.

Is he talking about "Downgrading a 3Ds from 9.8 to 9.7" ? if yes, then i can try his steps out, but i dont want to risk, so i ask you all.

Have you tried turning on the DS with the memory card in?

If you use a public header (and go online) you'll get banned.
If you use a private header (and go online) you probably won't. You can get private headers from games you own, or perhaps buy them from others. But I wouldn't trust anyone selling private headers.

I have read that there are 3 different header types (or manufacturers)?
Or can I use one private header (from one game) for all my roms?

Was messing around with my NNID on emuNAND, since I had some issues with that a while back that I never managed to resolve, figured it was worth another shot.
"You need to update to connect."
Oh sure, haven't done that in a while anyway, despite being on the latest Gateway version (3.3).
Updating... done. Rebooting...

It brings me to sysNAND, as expected. Except it has all the fancy new features (themes, etc.) I check system settings: Ver. 9.9.0-26E.
I did some quick looking around. This means I'm proper fucked, right? Nothing I can do? Still have backups of the original sysNAND and all, but I can't really use it in my current situation...

(It probably updated sysNAND instead of emuNAND since I had done some data management (uninstalling old junk) beforehand, without re-entering emuNAND afterwards. Fuck.)

There may be a downgrade tool for 9.8 one day, but it's impossible to say for sure.

That's a tutorial for downgrading emuNAND (emulated NAND). When you use Gateway or a CFW you can create a copy of your system's NAND (where system updates are stored) to your SD card. We can use that to stay on the latest update, without actually updating our systems. That tutorial will not allow you to downgrade your 3DS.

You can downgrade via hardmodding since you have a NAND backup. I've never performed a hardmod myself, but there are tutorials around here that should help you out. You also might be able to find someone who can perform the mod for you, if you don't want to do the soldering yourself.

Oh boy, that's going to be a fun one. Not sure if I want to risk it, but I'll have to do my research on that. Thanks for the recommendation!

Newbie here.

So, I'll be in the market for a N3ds fairly soon (attempting, of course, to get one w/ <9.3 firm). However, I've been a longtime 3ds owner, and have an old system with hundreds of dollars worth of content on it. (it's on 9.9 right now.) With this in mind, is there any way to somehow spoof the n3ds' firmware to get the best of both worlds-to have my normal system and CFW/Gateway on the same system? Thanks for any info y'all can give me.

I have a old 3DS at 9.2 and was wondering what is the proper order to have the sysnand at 4.2 and the emunand at 9.2+ for cfw stuff? I can downgrade to 4.2 with no problem and come back up but the problem is I keep corrupting stuff. I have a 124GB, 4GB, and a 2GB cards to work with, I just need the correct order to get sysnand 4.2 and emunand 9.2+ on my big card. and system.

Hey guys. New here. I used to be on top of the whole scene way back when Acekard was still a thing. I have a 3DS currently running 4.0 with my Acekard 2i, but I'd be super keen to try out a newer flashcart. I've ordered a Gateway and a gamecart which will upgrade my system to 4.1 - 4.5 (Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, US edition).

I have a couple of questions:
  • Will the blue Gateway cart work more or less like my current Acekard 2i?
    • ie. will I be able to keep my existing DS game and save files?
    • Will my existing emulators work on it (for GBa games)? If not, are there new ones that will?
  • This may sound very noobish of me, but can I still play retail carts once I've gone through the process to get my Gateway up and running? Will my existing save files for those retail carts work too?
Is there anything in particular I should watch out for, being that I am using a 3Ds with an existing custom flashcart to port over to a new one? Should I restore everything to factory before I go ahead with the change or ... ?

I've been playing a game all on .3ds, .cia and retail format. I've noticed that loading times on the .3ds version are a lot worse; 4-7 seconds more. .cia and retail are about the same. Is this the fault of the gateway cart or micro sd used in it?

The question is: it will be possible use ninjhax2 exploit to make a firmware downgrade ?
Thanks
