is it possible to modify cafe2wii to remove locks on ram/cores/cockspeed/ios/gx2 after we get keys for IOSU ?
so we don't need new devkits for that crapfe os?

It's only possible once we can modify IOSU to the point where we can patch cafe2wii on the fly (probably an ARM kernel exploit).

Hi, I have some questions :

-What's IOSU/Kernel Exploit?

-Could it allow to make Backups Loaders/play Wii U games backups?

-If it could, when (approximatively)?

Thank u :)

you wouldn't need to rewrite your code to use Cafe OS.

GC/Wii homebrew can be easily ported to Wii U.
That kinda defeats the purpose, if you want Wii homebrew use it with the shitty vWii and let it die because most Wii homebrew is awful and should be rewritten anyways. Believe me, I've had to deal with it for over 4 and a half years now :\ I don't wanna deal with it much longer. If you're that desperate just put patches over the Wii VC and call it a day.

IOSU is the OS running on the ARM, which handles security policies and hardware access. The PPC (main processor) can talk to it through IPC requests. A kernel exploit, as we commonly refer to it, is something that lets us break into the PPC kernel and bypass its memory protection policies. This lets us mess with any app or game that we want, doing thanks like Cafiine (game file replacement) and TCPGecko (realtime RAM editing). An IOSU exploit would let us bypass IOSU's security policy, allowing us to access hardware directly or patch its drivers.

As for backup loading, both could be used for it. However, it's more difficult with a PPC kernel exploit due to peculiarities in code loading. With an IOSU exploit, it becomes easier. Not that our team is working on backup loading.

I see, thank you! :)
Is it real that your team is working on an IOSU exploit?

Ok, so an IOSU already exists, interesting! :)
On what interesting things are you working? :P
Well, let's see, after the 5.3.2 exploit and kernel were working we branched out, MN1's trying to do 5 things at once like usual, including creating UCap (stream gamepad/TV to computer for visualizing/recording), and poking at lots of potential bugs/exploits, Hykem's supposedly still doing IOSU stuff on 3.X and finding bugs for the latest version, I'm doing Splatoon mods and also making stuff for save editing/level editing. Matt is trying to figure out how to manually install game updates through the Wii U Menu, dantarion is off doing Sm4sh mods with soneek, Relys just updated to 5.3.2 and is trying to figure out the exploit, chadderz (though not officially part of the team) is working on rewriting Cafiine to be more modular and support code patches (which I could really use), and NeKit is MIA.

Thanks for the information!

In regards to manually installing game updates, has anyone tried patching the function nn::nim::NeedsNetworkUpdate((bool *))? Would patching this (perhaps like the patch we have for accessing the eShop on the 3DS when not on the newest version) allow access to the eShop/update installs?

Just signed up to say BIG THANKS to all involved. I went to the store yesterday to pick up a Wii U and as luck would have it I got one on 3.1.0E! Now after digging around I can see that this version is fully hacked user/kernal/IOSU so given that should I stay on this version or use Mario Party 10 to update to the latest hackable that currently doesn't seem to have IOSU?

I've already tried numerous browser hacks that work fine, however http://wj44.bplaced.net/error/ is the only one that doesn't seem to work (Maybe that is intended for 3.1.0E?)

I've also ordered a copy of a game to exploit the vWii and install Nintendont and also the Mayfair USB adapter which 'should' arrive today. I've already started dumping all my Wii and Cabecube discs and am looking forward to having everything on the 1 console nice and tidy! (Not looking forward to untangling all the wires behind the TV unit from the old consoles when it all arrives but sure it will be worth it in the end!)

One last question. I already have 4 original Gamecube pads however a couple of them are showing their age now. Are the aftermarket clone pads any good and will they work with the Wii U? I was thinking of picking these up as replacement/spares being as original pads now seem to be limited and very overpriced!: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-BLACK-...833?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c9a60cb79

In order to avoid clutter I would like to thank anyone who answers any questions in advance ;)

Update, but when you think you're ready to.
We can't give promises for every exploits being released so soon.

Look how cheap this is: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Club-Nint...306?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1ea10b2a02
But, it's used.
