My point was that until a week or so ago, the download manager was X'd out. Cyan said that holding down the power button might cause that, which makes sense because I had to do that to get out of the homebrew. Either way, I leave my wii unplugged so I'm not too worried about it.

Any reason why you guys are using openDNS that sounds unreliable and a pain to setup instead of PsvProxy modified to block all of Nintendos update servers?
PsvProxy works like a charm and is ready to start blocking right away, seems like the better choice to me.
This is just me, but I use it so that I don't end up blocking all of Nintendo's stuff for all the house. That way I don't have to go somewhere else to update my 3DS emuNAND or download things from the NUS on my computer

PsvProxy only blocks the Nintendo servers from consoles that connect to the internet through the computer with the PsvProxy running, so it would only block consoles that are setup to be blocked not any console connected to the internet.

My mistake I meant title version!
I don't think any of them do, you just have to guess.

There's this but it may be out of date. Try 1, 16, and every multiple of 16. Or you can do it manually with URLs getting the latest TMD, using the ticket, and manually getting all the different chunks.

When I forward this url nus.cdn.shop.wii.com/ccs/download/000500301001220A to my local webserver and place the files from the old browser on it .
Would I'm able to update to the lastest version with old browser?

for those that are worried about the updates : The simplest solution is A Second Wii U. I got a second one just for the homebrew scene. I got the second wii u for only $90. the seller said it would not update. lol It was a vios problem. So just get a second wii u and then you have nothing to worry about. Dont have to deal with opendns or ip blocking. just never connect the second wii u to the net

You need to emulate the whole NUS server I believe for that. There is some SSL or stuff going on, that the Nintendo Console it self checks.

I've only read that before, I am not sure and cannot verify.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
