Lets say I wanna grab a PS Vita today.... How easy is it to hack it to be able to play PSone roms... PSP roms... if thats what they are even called. I need a lot of advice and direction in this area. I would great

This will give you a general grasp on all thing vita hacks. As of now the latest FW is exploitable but not recommended.
Try to get a vita in either the 3.18 to 3.36 range. This will allow you to use both ecfw and bubbles.
I should mention there is no native vita hack atm but 3.18 does have a web kit exploit. Nothing happened yet, but if a native vita hack does arise it probably be on that FW

The most popular vita mods(ecfw) are TN-V and ARK which take advantage of the psp emu to play iso, homebrew, plugins etc

If you have any questions just ask, there's a lot to cover haha

My only problems are finding one of those exploitable systems and the best way to find one. Also, mech told me I would need a PS3 for higher firmware to install a bubble(believe me, im lost. like telling some kid about gateway and emunand not knowing what it was all about. Im clueless).

Im really doing this one one game in particular for PSP (Wangan Midnight) but to have the potential to have Final Fantasy 7 and 8 in my pocket.............too much to resist for me. I must have it.

Yeah about what Mech said that I can explain. Say you get a vita on 3.36 FW, due to 3.50 being the latest version you wont be able to access the shop on FW 3.36. The workaround is to use a ps3( latest fw not hacked) download the exploitable game then transfer it over to the vita via wifi.

Also don't worry about the bubble lol. Its a pain in the ass to install, that's just so you can have your iso, homebrew icons on the vita home screen to launch (those icons are called bubbles). All you really need is the exploited game save file and launch the hacked game to access that stuff.

There is also one other option. You can shut the vita down after you have connected a psn account, then

go to the psn store via pc,
buy exploit game,
set it to download queue,
turn on vita,
and it will download regardless of fw.

Worked for me just fine.

Read the link I pasted up above, it tells you everything. I'm really not sure sorry about vitas above 3.18FW so I cant help you, mine is on 3.01FW but I heard the vitas on say FW's 3.36, 3.50 etc.. have had the exploit games needed to run PSP taken off Sony's PSN site, which they tend to do very quickly I just think your best trying to get a lower FW for maximum enjoyment out of your Vita.

By the way you need a PS3 also on OFW, to access PSN to download the exploit game to your vita, without one its useless!or just borrows your buddys PS3.

Yeah maybe a bit more difficult nowadays. Have you not got a second hand game store like we have CEX in the UK to try and find one?

Nah...nothing like that. Anyway. I found one on Ebay and I snagged it. PS Vita 2000 Firmware 3.18. Will be here next week.

Ill get a ps3 right after. I could be in the clear.

Im having alot of trouble understanding what to do here.

I downloaded that zip file... i dont see the CMA tool.

Im at the end of my rope and i havent even started on this crap yet. I downloaded that... still dont know what to do with it. Downloaded the CMA from sony... still doesnt work.. Downloaded something called qCMA... still not working....... ugh

atRalph. Follow Mechs guide here m8, it should do the trick for you, it did for me and more assistance needed ask him, he really is in the know and I'm sure he would help he helped me lots and got me through it and I did not have a scooby doo off what to do!

Wait.. the openCMA app or patch? Because i finally had some success. I never had the cma app on my computer. I downloaded it from sony... thats missing from the guide.... no biggie... but i downloaded cma from sony and patched it with that openCMA patch... now just waiting on my vita.... it arrives monday..

It worked on my 3.36 vita while the 3.5 update was out. I suggest giving it a try first, and hopefully it works out. Worst case scenario, you gotta wait a bit for your ps3.
