Hacking (4.x only) CIA CFW Complete Guide

K I got the CFW set up and DevMenu works, but when I try to run SaveDataFiler I get the SD card removed error. It's the same SDF cia I've been using on Gateway emunand, think it's the newest available version, do I need a different version for the CFW or is something else wrong? Cheers!

If you want to use the latest one you need one with spoofed firmware requirement (remember you're on 4.5)

Failed to stat input CIA file using the run.bat
I failed to install cfw 3 times.
I ran the rop multiloader , backup my nand ,format my nand , install red nand usingdrag_emunand_here.bat , inject red nand . Place the Palantine CFW sd card and folder ,Delete Launcher.dat and rename Launcher_GW.dat to Launcher.dat,Create two files in this folder named title.db and import.db . Put the SD card back in your 3ds and go to System Settings, and attempt to manage the SD software. get into the CFW, go to System Settings > Profile > Nintendo DS Profile , change IPTOMODIFY. Run the bat and this happens.​

If you get a solid white bottom screen, then you didn't write the nand properly into the sd card.

What games converted will run installed as .Cia via devmenu? I assume anything below 4.5 will work fine but can we spoof some to run from the cfw?

Most games will work, except for many games made for 7.x firmware or later and Pokemon XY (for some reason it crashes when loading the save files)

Try turning the WiFi on the 3DS on and off. Fixed it for me.

can i install devmenu through r4i is there anyone who knows something bout it???????

You canæt install devmenu through it, but if you can play NDS roms with it on your 3DS on 4.x you can use it to install CFW, yes.

In case anyone was interested, I successfully used SaveDataFiler on the CFW to extract the save from the card1 Luigi's Mansion cartridge, but I couldn't restore it to the .cia version on Gateway emunand, it always gave a "Failure" message. Haven't tried doing it as a card2 .3ds rom, not sure it'll help.

this guide does not work, ive followed the instructions 7 times now and as soon as i restore sectors with my nand back up it makes windows 7 say this device is corrupted do you wish to format.
i dont get it, + i cant even restore my emunand backup because windows 7 again says the sd is corrupted, but if i make a new emunand then i my pc accepts it fine

Are you using a 2Gb Sd card? It happened the same to me with the original 2GB card of the 3DS and I discovered using HxD that it was formatted using CHS instead of LBA.

Changing it by hand using HxD fixed the problem, but it isn't an easy task if you don't know very he matter. Not to say that 2GB is too small for anything else than a dev test card.

Try using a different SD (at least 4GB, better 8GB or more).

cant use the save data filer on gateway can i? it needs to be installed as a cia, which i really dont see the useful side of since its a lot of work to get the crap to even boot, let alone installed. there are no video guides or written guides, of how to use the pokemon save editing tools with a gateway red card

You just need to have SaveDatafiler as a CIA.
It can handle the Pokemon games fine when they are on the red cart.

how do i install cia files without the cfw crap then? because i dont fancy trying wiping my sd another 17 times just for it not to work

Just get BigBlueMenu.3ds on the red cart and SaveDataFiler.cia on the 3DS's SD card.
