Sorry for the double post. I just plugged in my HDD and SD card into a Classic Wii. Nintendont reads my HDD perfectly and even loads my old saves. I can now confirm that this is a Wii U issue.

Are you sure you correctly installed the proper Cios for Wii U?

Try to use a new sd card and make a clean install of usb loader gx, exclusively for you Wii U and check if it will work a 512mb sd card is enough.

What about using GCMM?
Perhaps that can help you extract the GCI files and then you can create an 8 MB memory card and import the GCIs to the 8MB Memory Card.
I haven't tried doing so but seems like an option. I don't know if there are other tools that can extract saves from Memory cards for Windows.

Thanks for your answer!
Unfortunately GCMM can not open RAW files and extract GCI out of it... Or is this possible?? I didnt find this option...
Does anyone have another idea, it would be a pity if I lose all my saves since I started with Nintendont...

The issue is no longer a USB Loader GX issue. The culprit is Nintendont. The same exact version reads my HDD on Wii but not Wii U.

Weird... Try to delete the file "nincfg.bin" on your sd card (i guess it is in the root), and redownload the meta.xml from the first page (https://nintendon-t.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/nintendont/meta.xml put it in nintendont's folder and try to boot a game using Nintendont Loader via homebrew channel without any usb loader.

i use a 75gb hdd on my wiiu with no issue just used it like 10 mins ago.

Yeah... the thing with lightykd is that on his original wii, gamecube games seem to work fine.

I also own a wii u and a white wii with gamecube ports. I use the same HD (a 1TB one - formatted as fat32, 32kb cluster, set to active and primary - through easus partition manager) on both.

But I use an exclusive sd card for my Wii U and another for my Wii, and I have never had any problems.. all working super fine!

Hi,
I'm using Nintendont for quite a while now, without any problems, thanks for the fantastic work.
When I switched from DIOS MIOS to Nintendont I dumped my Memory Card with GCMM and put the RAW file in USB/Saves/ and renamed it to ninmem.raw. Then I played some games, saving worked perfectly, my saves from DIOS MIOS were also recognized flawlessly. Today I wanted to extract one of the saves to Dolphin Emulator and there comes the surprise: My ninmem.raw does not contain saves from all of my games!! I think Nintendont saved them elsewhere. I use USB Loader GX with MemCard Emulation "On". There are no individual saves, I checked that.
Now I discovered another ninmem.raw on my sdcard in SD/saves/. I think thats where Nintendont saved all the time. The problem is if I try to open this file in Dolphin it gives me an error message: "Memory Card filesize does not match with header size". ninmem.raw has a size of 16mb, which I read can be problematic with some games. Therefore I would like to copy all saves into an new 8mb file. But as I said Dolphin wont open my existing RAW file...

Do you have any ideas how I can extract the saves and move them to a new clean 8mb file??

Thanks for your help!
I could be wrong but it sounds like your problem is wrong device, meaning that you created the emumem on the SD and made a raw dump on your usd which is where the games are located, for example!

I updated Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance USA/PAL to "Issues" status and I seriously doubt it is completable currently. At least three people have confirmed the freeze issue at chapter introductions. I tried five times to get past the Chapter 1 intro screen, and each time the screen fades to white and freezes there. Game is soft-resettable and power-down key combination also works until the freeze, after which all controls are unresponsive.

Here's a report that has probably been mentioned before, but seeing as Nintendont is getting so damn close to perfect, it seems appropriate to bring up one of the last remaining broken games, one which is actually worth playing.

(To answer the inevitable questions: yes, verified dump; yes, uncompressed; yes, multiple SD cards; yes, proper cluster size; yes, 2.162.)

Edit: Actually, as it freezes at the same point every time (through one chapter later if using the memory card trick in the report above), I'm changing it to "Doesn't work".

You should try loader gx to see if it black screens as well, If it doesn't it would mean it's an issue with wiiflow.

First, you should update nintendont, then..did you enable autoboot in cfg? It sounds like even if you choose the game in the loader, you have to pick it again, i might have misread that though.

You should delete nincfg.bin if there's one in your hdd. That could cause errors, especially if cfg wasn't updated to work with the new configs in Nintendont (i don't use it so i don't know how updated it is).

Finally, as Howard said, your priority should be to get Nintendont itself to find your hdd, remember it should be a primary partition formatted as fat32. If there isn't a mounted drive where the mc can be stored, it's logical that nintendont would crash.

Edit: also, if it were me, i wouldn't have spent 6 hs putting everything back, instead i'd copy one or two games and make sure the hdd is working before. An alternative is to just use another loader

The better alternative is just to use another drive. He doesn't really need his 1TB external for GameCube games. Just buy a cheap 16 or 32GB flash drive, and call it good enough. That's enough for any gamecube games he'd actually want to play. They are mostly only half a GB each.

Not sure if this is helpful but I am running it on a WiiU (not compressed) with version 2.157, used a 59block memory card file and I have gotten to chapter 3 without the lockup. I will play more in the coming days to see if I can go further.

I have had trouble with Timesplitters FP (3) with random locks. Anyone confirm if this works on any post BT versions as I never got to play this back in the day and really want to get thru it without numerous restarts.

I, like many others are using both their Wii & Wii U with the same HDD, which means most likely the culprit is your setup and not Nintendont. U need to start fresh and completely clean. Delete or rename all traces of Nintendont off your SD & HDD, delete all config files found on both devices, backup your MC saves/files and use one medium at a time for testing for the time being, so no SD card. No loaders for testing, this is important.

Grab the latest Nintendont and attempt and load a game from it w/o a loader with the settings u want. Make sure to have removed/backed up/deleted any original save files created by Nintendont's default path based on your settings. It should definitely work.

Please make a note of this on the compatibility list. That is highly useful information & thank u.

Thanks, I'd be interested to hear if you make it farther. I'm on a Wii, but yeah, that part probably doesn't make a difference. I haven't tried the 59 block memory card file yet as the guy from the report mentioned he didn't manage to get much farther with it, but you're already past where he got to.

I have never had Fire Emblem freeze on me either. quite a few posts back said it has something to do with Memory Card Emulation. I really don't feel like checking though since the game works 100% for me

Same deal with Tales of Symphonia. people report it randomly freezes but I have tested that game thoroughly and it never froze a single time.

This is probably why I never had a freeze.
I still got the freeze with mc emulation disabled, and on the first try too. Just because it worked one time for him doesn't mean it would work every time. As it still stands the crash rate is completely random.

But if you say you absolutely never got it, then it might be hardware specific just like those other titles. You're using a Wii U, right? I'm using a late 2008 Wii. It's an easy to test theory so it might be worth entertaining.
Any Wii U users having this problem?
