sorry if the answer is harsh, but: if it's not the 4th icon ... didn't it come to your mind to try the 3rd or 5th? or any other icon from the top menu to see if you would find a menu corresponding to the description I provided?

so now please, try all other buttons.
You need to find a menu where you can "enable Wii games", because the loader can display games based on their type :
- Wii games
- Gamecube games
- Channels
- EmuNAND

So, you need to enable the display of the wii games to be sure that your issue is not just because Wii game display is disabled.
Sorry if I mistaken the position number of that menu.

Once you are sure that the loader is set to display wii games, then we can try to find another solution.
This one is the easier to test and resolve.

If you don't have any menu resembling what I described, the you are using a very old version.
Please, update the loader.

reporting errors using old versions is useless.
If it's a bug, it's probably fixed long ago.

Sorry, didn't mean to be rude :) I checked everything.

Problem solved btw... I used version 1.0, dont know why I have been doing that.
But everything works perfectly now... except that NSMB dont work and themes cannot be downloaded (119 error).

Sorry if it was rude too.

Theme not working is a known issue.
NSMB should work.

Can I ask which version of the loader you are using now?
Latest version is "3.0 r1231"
"3.0 r1180" is a little old (though, NSMB should work with it). It contains few bugs which are fixed in newer version.

It doesn't launch at all, or do you see an error after few seconds/minutes of playing?

If it doesn't launch, maybe your ISO is bad.
if it's an error after playing some minutes, it's still an old version of the loader. New version has a patch for that game.

I cannot seem to rename GC games, they go back to their original title after USB Loader GX starts again.

Edit: With Gametdb off, some games disappear?

the option to rename games in the loader is not very stable. It's storing the user's choice in the cache, sometime the cache is replaced with Gametdb, sometime gametdb s not loaded correctly too.
Instead, you can use two different methods:

1. use Wiitdb database (you can download it from the update menu, then enable it in the features menu).
It will rename the games with the real/official names.

2. rename the folder where you put the ISO, and disable gametdb feature.
the loader is using the path as game's title and GameID if found.

for example:
games/GZLP01/game.iso <-- this one will try to load the game found in the ISO if you don't use gametdb
games/Zelda wind Waker/game.iso <-- this one will use the folder name as Game's title, but will look in the ISO to find the gameID.
games/zelda Wind Waker [GZLP01]/game.iso <--- this one will use both the gameID and the title from the folder's name.

If you enable gametdb, it will only use the gameID to rename the game based on the database's title.

I downloaded, installed (forwarder) and used the update function. Now I have r1231.
I think maybe Wii backup manager have corrupted the game... it worked fine with usb loader gx 1.0 when I installed from disc.
I will try another ISO. (and that worked).

I want to thank you for taking the game for us gamers :)

I thought you didn't use this loader (when I was on IRC you always told me you don't really use it :P)
I'm glad you like it.
If you have any other issue, or suggestion let me know (I'll add that to my already long list of things to do or verify lol)

You may be confusing me with somebody else. As soon as USBGX implemented banners I started using it and never looked back. As for nintendont, I've always kept an eye on it because of audio streaming support and now it's gotten so mature that I may switch to it from DM as my primary GCN loader. The good thing is I don't have choose since both can coexist :-)

Thanks again for your helpl.

Decided to come back and play with ULGX now that Nintendont has bluetooth working. If USB HID set to disabled, does it still make sense to have a warning about controller.ini missing everytime I start a GC game? Seems to me the warning should only occur the file is missing and HID is enabled.

Any plans to add SD card support for Wii games? Ever since I moved to the Wii U, due to the lack of power the USB ports can output, I've had to use a y-cable which means there is only room for 1 HDD (gotta save the front USB ports for the upcoming GameCube controller adapter :P), and I don't want to buy an externally powered USB drive when I have so many 2.5" HDD's laying around. I prefer using the HDD for Wii U and SD card for Wii. I know, I could use another loader (and am due to the stated limitations of my setup), but I much prefer this loader :grog:.

Here are the facts..

The GCN games are all ISO files and the folder structure is correct. I've made sure the path is correct.

You setup is fine except you haven't installed Dios Mios. You can however, run Nintendont since you have that installed

Ha! I was under the impression I had to install the WADs BCv6 and MIOSv10 when I installed the DM WAD. So, I installed DM 2.9 and am now GCN titles boot to a black screen.

Thanks for point that out. I think this is progress.

I keep setting up my custom paths to usb1 but when I put my sd card in the paths always get reset to sd. I need my sd inserted to launch the latest build of usbloaderGX but I would prefer to free up as much space as possible on my sd and load all paths from usb1. Is there a way around this?

SD is prioritized over the usbs, so it creates its own settings like that when you first load the loader with it in (it creates new settings on the sd itself) set them right once with the sd in and then you should have the right settings one the sd and on the usb ...seems like you said you already did it ..is that right?

..if yes, maybe you should copy the settings found in the usb to the sd (see what was created in the he sd and override those with what you have on the usb) ...but I don't think that it would be necessary

You can have the setup stored on SD, with all the path in it pointing to USB folders (covers, themes, languages, etc.)
The setup file will take only few kb on your SD card.

isira:
I thought nintendont always creashed if no controller.ini was present, even if HID wasn't used. But maybe it was an old version with this issue. It's probably fixed now.
I'll remove the check if HID is not set.

As for adding SD support for Wii games, I thought about it but I didn't take a look at it yet.
I don't promise I'll do it. I already have a lot to add/change/fix, and I'm so slow to update.

raffymo:
post a syscheck report, so we can see which IOS you have.
syscheck tutorial is linked in my signature.

Alright, all seems fine.
I see you are on WiiU.

Are you using a Y-cable? or an external power for your HDD?
Maybe the black screen issue is because your HDD doesn't have enough power.

USBLoaderGX is blocked at the "20 seconds countdown - waiting for HDD" screen?
Could you try to connect the HDD when you see this screen, not before? (sometime it helps)

You can also try to set the IOS to 58 in the settings:

Settings > Loader settings > Loader's IOS : 58
then reboot the loader.

Also, be sure you connected it at the top port (on Wii it's the bottom port, but on WiiU it's using the top one).

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
