Nintendo is well known for producing toys for the peasantry popular game consoles and beloved franchises. Many people immediately equate video games to Nintendo properties, and characters like Mario, Boy Zelda, and Samus have withstood the test of time.

Nintendo often strives for inclusiveness, trying to create products for the unwashed proletariat masses whole family.

However, it seems that inclusiveness only goes so far...
[When players discovered that (albeit, through a glitch) they could engage in holy mantrimony with two male characters in Tomodachi Collection: New Life, many were thrilled. Nintendo, however... wasn't.]

Nintendo released a patch today which it said would correct a handful of technical issues including, according to Kotaku's translation, "human relations that become strange."

While definitely an improvement on their original reaction, it's still rather unfortunate.

Now to be entirely fair, the same-sex marriage bit wasn't originally intended to be in the game; it was a glitch (and a wonky one at that - female characters couldn't get married, and male characters could get pregnant). Still, surely it could have been fixed and let be? Plus, let's be honest here, Nintendo's language is a bit disheartening. I mean, last I checked, it's the 21st century. About time we get over this, no?

Really, it's just kind of a shock. I thought Nintendo was totally down with two guys doing the plumbing! Guess I thought wrong.

Definitely Golden. I can tell already this is going to be one of the best threads we've had in awhile.

Well it was a glitch, not like it was intended in the first place. Female characters couldn't do it either, only the males had the glitch.

deal with it

However, I do understand the internet rage that Nintendo's statement has caused. I agree that it isn't right.

If I was gay, you'd never catch me acting like a fag. (joke directed at Dinoh).

So was this just something they missed when they released the game or what?

Who cares really? Homosexuality is represented in every avenue of the media at this point, so I think it is only fair that A. Nintendo gets to do what Nintendo wants to do with it's own creations. B. That there be a little section of the market place where it as well as sex in general do not have to be present.
Leave it be!

Males getting pregnant should not be fixed.

TIL, GBATemp.
Pretty much this, the bug was much worse than just allowing same sex marriage. It screwed up other things as well, and in my opinion male pregnancy counts as "human relations that become strange." If they wanted to make it a proper feature, that probably would have been much more work considering you'd probably need to add exceptions and special cases for all sorts of things.

My wording could have been better, sure, but still.

Well, if they were just removing gay marriage, that might be a little upsetting, but most likely the bug was caused by the exact same thing as men getting pregnant. Therefore, they aren't intentionally removing functionality, and this change gets a Yes vote from me.

I don't listen? What didn't I listen at? I just want to know all the possible risks on that part

Hayato even said it's dangerous to backup the save files to CFW

how is this dangerous? A ton of people did this it's the most common thing to do with CFW

For example, HOW is is risky to get banned if you extract the save files to the CFW?
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
isn't this proccess be done while you're offline?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We are not Nintendo, so we don't know exactly how/why/when they ban, but better to stay on the safe side and not do shady stuff, if you don't want to be banned. Hayato is one of the most knowledgeable ones here on the subject and I believe what he says.

    300 bucks hmmm lol
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
@BigOnYa, Yes ofc we don't know how Nintendo bans work, but if there are situations where a lot of people have tried safely then we can at least assume that this path is pretty much safe. To say don't try anything homebrew relative just to be safe forever is the easiest thing to say to someone. What I am trying to figure out here is with which cases and what actions got most of the people their bans for.
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
Most things I can find resulting to a ban is save-editing reasons, like Pokehex, etc, and going online afterwards.
