When you want to connect to your world, use 127.0.0.1 or LOCALHOST as the IP address to connect to.

If you want people outside your home to connect to it, you'll need to do port forwarding.

Alright, anf how do I do port forwarding. I've got a few people who I want to connect, not many.

Router brand and model. As long as you can find this, it will show you where to go and what to type in to port forward your server. And as long as you kept it at default, you'll need to forward port 25565 for Minecraft.

My semester ends in 2 and a half weeks. Once it's over, I'll be performing some much needed maintenance on my server. Craftbukkit++ updates, plugin updates, that kind of stuff.

Is that the editable books? I have yet to test the snapshot.
It may be very bad, I was reading somewhere that as of that snapshot, an enchanting room uses 90 leather. Leather can be a pain to get unless you have a massive cow farm prior to the update...

Edit: As seen here, books now require 1 piece of leather =(

Still, like you said, good for adventure maps.

The latest minecraft snapshot adds a new game mode (2). "Adventure" mode for adventure maps, where you can't place or destroy blocks, but you can interact with things like buttons and doors, and trade with villagers.

Figured any map makers here might like to know about that in advance.

Yeah I was testing it out, but it seems like it wouldn't be very good for most adventure maps as most require you to break a block or place something down...

I can't connect to my own LAN server. It's hosted on my own computer. I made my IP static, and took the IPv4 address from the ipconfig command in the Command Prompt and put it in Server.properties. When I try to connect, it says can't reach server. All my search results are for public servers, not LAN ones.

What on earth is wrong, and why is nothing I try working, even though it apparently works for everyone else?
