Good then, Nintendo network is just the name of the online service. It has already lauched, for the most part. If you're talking about the personal accounts, that was for the Wii U. They didn't say anything about the 3DS.
I still don't understand what's so special about it, in that case. What makes the "Nintendo Network" advertised for Kid Icarus different from whatever is running Mario Kart 7 and other similar games?

And I thought Nintendo Network was supposed to be the future hub for DLC and stuff on the 3DS.

Does anyone have a link to the previous exact wording of the "User Agreement" that Nintendo requires you "accept" before updating? I was wanting to compare them, just to see if they have changed.
There isn't one that you must accept before updating.

I'm showing one before updating.

I googled the old one and it does seem to be a tad different:

Old one online:
You understand that the Nintendo 3DS System specifications and the Nintendo 3DS Service are constantly evolving and that we [Nintendo] may update or change the Nintendo 3DS System or the Nintendo 3DS Service in whole or in part, without notice to you. Such updates may be required for you to play new Nintendo 3DS games, enjoy new features, or continue to access the Nintendo 3DS Service. After the Nintendo 3DS menu is updated, any existing or future unauthorized technical modification of the hardware or software of your Nintendo 3DS System, or the use of an unauthorized device in connection with your system, will render the system permanently unplayable. Content deriving from the unauthorized modification of the hardware or software of your Nintendo 3DS system will be removed. Failure to accept the update may render games and new features unplayable.

New one on my 3DS:
Your Nintendo 3DS system and software are not designed for use with any unauthorized devic and/or any unauthorized software. Please note that the Nintendo warranties do not cover any defects to or defects caused by unauthorized devices, software, and/or modification. Furthermore, such use may lead to injury to yourself or others and may cause performance issues and/or damage to your Nintendo 3DS system and relates services. Nintendo (as well as any Nintendo licensees or distributors) is not responsible for any damage or loss caused by the use of such devices, software, or modifications.

Important! After the Nintendo 3DS menu is updated, any existing or future unauthorized technical modification of the hardware or software of your Nintendo 3DS system or the use of an unauthorized device in connection with your system, will render the system permanently unplayable and result in removal of unauthorized content. Failure to accept the update may render games unplayable.

FYI-Just found it interesting that the wording changed a little. I doubt it changes anything.

Edit: Probably should have posted this in the 3DS bricking rumor thread. Sorry!

Not exactly. It functions for online gaming, DLC and accounts (Confirmed for Wii U, dunno for 3DS). Basically the games with the NN brandind means that the game has some functions online. (Whether it is online play, DLC, or even both.) Mk7 didn't have the branding because it wasn't announecd at the time, but it was confirmed of using it for online play.

So is there am update for Kid Icarus ? I am rather fond of the online matches.
No. But I believe Nintendo Direct mentioned some form of DLC for Kid Icarus within the next 6 months. Didn't say what kind of DLC, though.

Also hey guys, I'm hearing some rumors across the net now that the update did NOT patch the Mario Kart 7 Maka-Wuhu glitch, and that update won't be coming till May. The same people who claim this say they tested the glitch in time trial and it still works... can anyone confirm or deny this for me?

folders and eshop looking awesome, i like this alot.

and using QR codes in the eshop now? even better.

now...how does the QR code format work for the eshop to get free stuff :D?
eshop://[appid] etc.
It's just a url qr code.
We've been able to scan them by using the lite camera (L/R from the home menu) for months, but hey if people want to launch the eshop, click the bottom, click settings/others, scroll down, click "Scan QR", and then do it, who are we to point out a faster way to do it?
BAH...i thought it was for redeeming something you have bought :(
It is, but it's the exact same thing. You're just going through extra steps unless they plan to remove QR from the camera lite.
AH HAHAHAHAHA I WAS RIGHT.

eshop -> manual -> page 12 "Settings / other" -> Functions -> scan QR code "you can scan QR code images that contain the following information: 1. download codes. 2. Nintendo 3DS prepaid card numbers. 3. Links to titles in Nintendo eShop"

i guess thats what i get for not reading the manual sooner.

SO HA! I WAS RIGHT :D

I updated and my Supercard DSTwo doesn't work anymore.

I find the wording of the Agreement interesting but since Flashcards actually don't "Modify" anything on the host system they can hardly detect our usage of them. If our 3DS does send things back to Nintendo they'll just wonder why we like to play crappy third-party games so much. Also I doubt they implemented some kind of silent anti-flashcard programming that will update the 3DS in the background. No where in the Agreement was there any mention of Auto-Updates and if they implemented such a thing they could be sued for the forceful installation of software on a device we own. Doing so is illegal here in America.

Ok Read what I am about to write.
This update brings us 2 things:
1. Ability to create and use folders.
2. Abilty to patch retail games.

Now what nintendo said about the following statement is not a rumor: The patch for Mario kart 7 is coming in
mid-may.

http://www.officialn...coming-mid-may/
And Btw, I don't remember Nintendo Direct mentioning any DLC for Kid Icarus DLC. What they showed us was just a tips and tricks video.

Before update, the system was able to have up to 50 titles on the root screen, and of course, no folders.

After the update, Root screen can now have up to 120 titles, or 60 titles and 60 folders.
Each folder is able to hold 60 titles. This makes the max number of titles on the system possible at 3660 now.

The only titles that can't be moved into a folder, is the Game card title, the e-shop title, and the system settings title. Everything else can live in a folder, including health and safety.

WAIT, can someone go into the internet browser and check what the version number is before they update?

its at 1.7498 after updating

It's at 1.7455 before updating. (3.0.0-6)
IIRC, the version number has increased with every firmware update, but there doesn't appear to be any obvious changes. They still haven't fixed the range input bug, which is probably the worst bug the browser has.

I like the update, a few good improvements there. I do wish the folders could have icons instead of the first letter of the title, though. Also, the system menu doesn't seem to take into account there's less items, still giving you the same amount of free icon space.
