Hello guys, do you know if an external HDD works on a jailbroken 5.05 PS4? because I want to play games from the external hard drive once I've jailbroken my console, but i don't know if i can.

I have all my favourites on there and i want to play them again when i downgrade my console and jaibreak it. Is that possible?

You can, but if it's from another PS4 the games won't work. It will make you format.

You were wrong to assume however that you can downgrade unless you were already on the lower firmware and have some files you need from it. So you would need another PS4 to get to 5.05. But why not go to 6.72 the newer exploit? If you're on newest firmware though, you can't get to either one.

Thanks for replying, and that's good news, becuse the games are only from my console on external HDD (the one that I want to jailbreak).

So from what you've said, should be able to
Cheers

But you can't downgrade, so that's bad news. I'm not sure why you thought you could. It means you need another PS4.

How do you mean? Because I thought you could replace the current PS4 update file (7.55) and replace it with the desired one, in my case the 5.05 update.
There are many tutorials online how to do this, although I could be wrong, forgive me if I'm incorrect.

No you cannot. They are either fake, or now there is a downgrade but you had to have been on the older firmware and upgraded with some files you have prepared and it involves tinkering with the PS4. If you're just on 7.55 you cannot just downgrade to 5.05 that is 100% false. You would have to buy another PS4 or wait for a new exploit.

Ah okay I get what your saying, so it's easier to get a new PS4 on the 5.05 firmware.

5.05 is not the latest exploit, 6.72 is. Although there are some people that stay on 5.05 because you can play a lot of 6.72 on 5.05 because 6.72 is not 100% stable. It's fairly stable now though. So I would recommend just going to 6.72. You will also probably have an easier time finding a 6.72 PS4 than a 5.05. But don't expect them to be cheap.
