i heard that wiikey will wipe your save files clean when you use it for the first time, is that true?

No, it is not true. However, any time you remove the battery from the console (required to open the case to install any modchip) you'll have to reset the date and time on your Wii.

i heard it from some guy who stood in line with me outside of bestbuy 2 weeks ago. he told he his neightbor put a modchip in his wii and it works, but the first time he start his wii after installing the modchip, the modchip will erase all the save files...........come to think about it, he never mentioned wiikey, so yeah it is probably some other modchip..........i don'tknow why i thought he was talking about wiikey haha....

Nintendo blew up four of my computers, one after the other, right after I finished installing my Wiikey. At 99% Synchronizing in IMGburn while burning the Wiikey Update 1.9b, the computer froze, and never started again. I built a new computer from old parts. Hard drives instantly corrupted. Built a third, same, fourth, same. Had to buy a new computer. But you know what Nintendo? It burns discs. None of this is made up but I thought it fit nicely.

I could photograph the computers in their stack at the end of the hall, scan the receipt for the new computer I had to buy last night...you could track down my post about this days ago when it started to happen at psx-scene.com...yeah you do the work. You don't really care and it wasn't really Nintendo. Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind while rebuilding these things, or that it was a fake wiikey 1.9b iso full of deadly data, or whatever else...remember I couldn't even test my Wii install until today.

this reminds me of the dreamcast rumor, where if you insert a certain game it spins a skull and crossbones logo and doesn't allow you in the game. god I wish that was true, that would've been cool to see

I believe there is also something about disabling your WiiConnect24 before taking the battery out, something to do with something, it's been ages since I did it.

I had to format the 'Everybody Votes' data, it wouldn't download new polls after removing the battery, dunno why... Date I guess...
