Why are 3DS's so expensive?

Last month I decided to look for a special edition New 2DS XL and the prices shocked me. Used Old 3DS devices going for over R$2000 and my Dragon Quest 2DS LL I purchased went for R$3800,00, I felt robbed.
I know they never were cheap here on Brazil, but goddamn it, doubled the price in some cases.
About $700 USD 🤯 That's crazy.

It's a shame the used market is so blown out on these things. Collecting culture is OUT OF CONTROL and has basically ruined this hobby.

Games I bought on Half.com for $8 in 2016 are now $100 on eBay. It's just stupid.

And the 3DS had the added issue of being SO much better than the Switch family of systems, with so many more unique games and features, higher hardware durability, and just more charm in general. People want them, and as time goes by, there will be less of them.

I understand why you feel robbed, but the Ayaneo Flip is like $1400, even here, and it's just an emulation device. The real hardware is worth it 👍

Dang, $700 USD!!

I completely agree, it's ruining it! While I have quite a few old consoles here, I just bought games I like, still... they ask prices that simply doesn't make sense to me anymore to keep buying and I don't even look for the mint condition ones.
(Someday, somehow, your bastard Tectoy Resident Evil 1 priced as 990 USD will be mine)

Actually, even finding parts to fix some devices are becoming troublesome.
I been looking for some parts for one of my 3DS to repair for quite a while and it's either buy a "new" device and trow mine away or leave it as is because even the parts are skyrocketing.

While I would love to have the Ayaneo Flip or AYN Thor, and not just for the DS/3DS emulation aspect, the price is simply a NOPE to me, period. $1400 USD would convert to around R$7600 BRL, and that's not including taxes and the store's gains margin.
