Hacking what is apllication software??

what is the application software section for? when i turn the ds off and on it shows that tab with games in it... if its like a recently played game list kinda thing can i delete them from there?

also what are .opt files? they are in the nds folder

It is just a place you can store up to 4 applications you want have easy access to.

i see... they go in there automaticly thoe when im done playing a game..

Oh the application software is just the recently opened files. Sorry I had it confused with the accessories.

can you delete them from the list or do they stay there

also do you know what .opt files are?

They stay there until they are replaced by another game. opt files are your game settings (soft reset, download and play etc.).

one more question.. how exactly does soft reset work? when i push the button i set it too it never resets, it doesnt take me out of the game and to the menu.. does it work in signle play and download?

I can't help you there, I have never used soft reset but I know it isn't compatible with many games.
