Hardware Using USB C cable to dock Switch Will USB controllers still work?

Ok im curious before i go buy the hori wired controller i wonder if i can use this still?
Because my method of docking is using a USB C female to male Extention cord so i dont need to slide it into the dock it self so in reality i think it should work fine if i plug a USB controller into the dock?
Unless im wrong?
Just making sure might sound stupid hehe..

Ok thats cool i might have to hold the controller super still because if the dock gets moved the USB C springs out do you solution for that or just play carefully?
