Hacking upgraded CIOS latest version and then ran into problems

hey guys, long time lurker on here but I am glad to be here.


I last modded my 4.3 wii like back in 2011, I haven't touched it since 2013, so I dug it out of the closet cause I found a wii fit board at goodwill for 5 bucks wanted to play some wiifit when I did and saw that I needed to upgrade the latest CISO version. cause GX USB loader was giving me black screens.

It worked perfectly on the CISO upgrade

so, I wanted to add some emulators and other homebrew channels to it, so I shut down the wii and put the sd card in my computer. I added the first emulator which apparently corrupted the entire sd card.

I wiped out the sd card and just put emulators on it again that way like GX USB loader and etc.

the wii is now telling me it only has CISO version 249 on it. I did the steps again in the guide but, now when I try to upgrade it I get the following error.

the USB hard drive is NTFS 500GB. It has WBFS files for the wii games and some iso files which contain gamecube roms. Cause that's how I did it 10 years ago, does this need to be changed?

Fat32 has a few benefits over ntfs.

Are you running a Wii or a WiiU's virtual Wii (aka vWii)? Your screenshots indicate the latter.

If this is truly a Wii and not WiiU, check out modmii to make installing cIOSs and really everything wii related much easier.

Edit: you'll notice ModMii "advertised" at the bottom of your screenshots as well
