Hacking Up/Down Grading a N3DS via Flash Port

I read the newbie section, and this is not a question about downgrading a 9.5+ N3DS

I want to know if I add a Firmware Flash Port to my 9.0.0-20U N3DS can I:

Use my Gateway and create a 9.0.0-20U sysnand backup
Verify it 10x (just to be sure) then:
Update the sysnand to 10.2.0-28U
Go on to eShop and buy some games
Downgrade the sysnand back to 9.0.0-20U
Create .CIA's of the eShop games on the SD card

I know how to make .CIA's from eShop already, and was doing this until they locked up eShop from my reinand 9.5.0-23U emunand+FreeMultiPatcher a few days ago.

Also I know how to remove the "crypto" from eShop Games with it added.


Am I not seeing something - or would this work?

Use HANS.. And yes, you can make cia(dump ticket.db) from 10.2 nand backup since you can generate xorpad for your 3ds's FAT16 partition.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that won't work for me

I can't use HANS because my sysnand was never setup with a NNID, and with HANS you cannot add one.


I'm thinking my only option is to use a Flash Port and update the sysnand to 10.2, add the same NNID I have on my emunand and then access eshop.

I do this all the time with a nand mod. It's the only way to make crypto fixed n3ds eshop games

Stupid question: If one buys a used 3DS, how can one tell whether it was hard modded or not?

If someone who bought it opens the 3ds and sees the board, he/she will know.
Even if you desolder and clean the board, trace of residue will remain.
Sofeware-wise, no way to figure out.

I don't understand why OP can't set up NNID? Is there anything I miss? Can he just use mini Pasta + free multi patcher and create NNID first? I never use 3DS much, I just set up CFW, homebrew, Free Multi Patcher so I am kinda dumb about HANS, Eshop usage.

I tried to do this using Gateway sysnad boot with FreeMultiPatcher

I can get into eShop no problem (no nag to update)
But as soon as I try to download something so it will ask to create a NNID, I get 007-2404 error

Tried Pasta with FreeMultiPatcher = same 007-2404 error
