i currently play pokemon firered on gpemu and I want to transfer the progress to visual boy advance m, so I can use cheats. However, when I import the battery save file, the game continues to run and nothing happens. Pls help

Edit: now when I import the battery save file, the game restarts. However, the game still starts from the beginning and my progress isn’t there.
