Hacking Some help starting out please switch

I have a good switch to put cfw on, (checked serial and I am good to go) i have read a lot of tutorials but am confused as to where to begin, I have hit tutorial overload.

I believe I am posting in the right place, but if I am posting in the wrong place, please accept my apologies and move me x

My switch was 3.0.2 but updated to 6.2 recently by mistake (son set up and updated - he didn't mean to do anything wrong)
I have an RCM jig
I know I need some tegra file on my pc but not sure which one and what to do with it to make it work.
I then have no idea on what payloads to launch or the simplest way to start out.
I am guessing I need to put my switch into aeroplane mode forever to avoid a ban?
I have read to install reinx or atmosphere or horizon (although I thought horizon was the ninty OS for switch so this is confusing)
I have zelda game card, mario od game card, labo game card and paid pixel junk monsters 2 from the eshop. I want to make backups of these (or download them, whichever is easiest) so I can pout them on both of our switch's.
I would like access to homebrew and possibly an internet browser?
I have no idea why there are xci and nsp versions of the same games - whats the difference?

I was all over the Wii and Wiiu scene but have been away a while due to having kids and this switch scene looks amazing but is a whole new world of complicatedness (that's a new word)
Any help on which order I need to do things would be greatly appreciated. I am a fast learner. Yes I am a girl, but I am not stupid.

Yes but bans aren't the end of the world.

XCI's are actual cartridge dumps. NSP's are the eshop version.

Will I be able to run any of those from a normal power up? or do I have to boot using the jig each time and injecting a payload?

I am currently backing up my NAND and keys.

No, to run any CFW you need a jig to enter RCM. You can't run homebrew/backups on stock FW. However once you have CFW installed you can enable something called auto rcm, which allows you to boot into CFW without a jig after a hard reboot, but it has downsides and I personally have never used it and probably never will.

Jigs aren't that bad though. How often do you need to reboot your phone? If you're like most people, not often. It's either being used or connected to a charger somewhere. Same goes with a docked Switch.

You can in CFW, not OFW if that's what you're asking.

you cannot play backups on OFW. Everything not legit has to be done on cfw and offline. everything online/legit can be done on sysnand/ofw. I suggest you get sx-os because of sheer simplicity and ease of use. Main feature nothing else has is ability to load xci files, install xci files and nsp files all from a hot swappable HDD. This along with FTP feature makes it so I never have to turn off the switch for anything.

OK all files backed up - how do I install games on cfw? i read somewhere I have to change files inside the nsp... is this easy? is there a guide? Thanks for the help so far, its been great.

The only CFW with an XCI loader is SX OS, which you need to order for around $50 and it ships from China for most retailers. It's what I use and is generally the best and easiest option if simplicity is your thing.

Edit: I'll note that you can get the OS alone for around $25, but I'd highly recommend SX Pro, which includes a dongle to inject payloads for extra convenience. Totally worth it imo.

i have hbl and hbmenu with atmosphere running well.
I have it running via fortknight for full ram access instead of using album.
I have dumped my NAND and I have dumped all of my keys with lockpick and hekate.

Do I have to edit tickets in the nsp?
what do I have to do?

I am really quite happy with using the jig and atmosphere. Happy to use nsp's but just need to know what I need to edit in them before installing on my switch with goldleaf.

I don't see the need to pay for sxos when atmosphere is free.

As far as I know, nothing needs to be edited. If you've got your NAND backup done and safely stored away, install your nsps and have fun with the games.
