TBH, when I travel I usually put my switch in my Hori hardcase, that's sturdy.OP says he packed the Switch roughly, not sure who would think that you are alright doing that with such a compact electronic.
But on the everyday commute I just slip it in the iPad pocket of my laptop bag without any protective case. The case is too much of a hassle for taking the Switch out quickly.
Still not broken.

Not a chance.I wonder if the same will be said about joycons 30 years from now?
Wash a NES controller and a joycon together in a washing machine, and check which one still works afterwards. No need to wait 30 years.
