Hacking r4i gold (2016 update) vs sky3ds?

I have used r4's in the past. However, this is the first time I am getting a cart for 3ds. Which would be better. The 2016 update says r4i gold works for all versions of the 3ds. I guess this is newish because it is hard to find reviews of this card and update as compared to other cards.

Anyone using it that can comment on how they like it and compatibility?

Also I tried looking here on the cart compare page on gbatemp. I think it is old though because r4i says only for 4.5

It should work but the R4 won't play 3DS games, only DS. Sky3DS only plays 3DS.

Oh, well that one will, bot only on older firmwares (9.2) in which case you don't need to buy a 3DS flashcart anymore, you could just use CFW.

yes the sky works on any fw and plays 3ds games

Don't buy a SKY3DS+ just downgrade to 9.2 for CFW and buy a cheap 5 dollar flashcard for DS games.

the r4 card looks like a sky3ds clone ( there are many of them ). but im pretty sure it will work for your firmware,

if its the same one someone linked me last night its a gateway clone and hasnt gotten an update in a long time

That's a pretty broad question but it will allow you to install games/dlc/homebrew/emulators for free among many other things.
