But that's not a problem, considering that it works in the DS flashcard.
it is a problem. you can't put in a full SD card into a flash cart, and if you're using a New 3DS, you can't just unscrew the back at any moment you want. also you'd still have to turn off the system to do it.

How about porting Pocket Physics NDS to 3DS?

So, the answer is "no" unless you have a specific flashcart?
Flash carts, especially ones that run DS code, make life so much more easy so most will probably opt for that if given the chance. What I would be up for seeing is how far we can push the compatibility layer -- the current hacks seem to revert it to older versions (perhaps even ones that might never have existed on the given model) but I reckon it would be possible to nerf checks even further. I would also like to see a proper analysis of the whitelist, mainly with an eye to seeing if there are any v1.1 dumps or something missing out there.

I do not know much about the specific hacks people are using but on the matter of DLDI there is a little used option there called FCSR that was designed for use with older flash carts (and I guess some emulators) where a FAT image is bundled with everything it needs at the end of the ROM. Might not help much for things that have to write a lot of data (the S part stands for SRAM so it is not impossible to write things) but most homebrew was more of a read only affair outside of small saves. I do not have a good link detailing all the specifics and quirks of FCSR right now but http://www.cryptosystem.org/archives/2006/06/building-a-fat-file-image-for-nds-homebrew/ is OK if you understand the underlying concepts.

What if we could fool the 3ds into thinking that we have a legit nds game card but actually the game is in our sdcard?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also i read its possible to lauch dsi games on the 3ds now(using some hack/patch of sorts), can't we use that to launch normal nds games?

I don't think DS mode has SD card access at all. (DSiWare has to be installed to NAND).
Or apparently it does but you'd probably have to seriously reprogram the twl_firm to read game from SD card rather than Slot-1, which is probably not really feasible at least not at the moment. That and making such a modification would break signatures, so it would only work when you have a CFW, meaning you would break DS game compatibility on your 3DS unless you were running a CFW (and probably break reading actual Slot-1 cards while the hack is installed.)

I'm not entirely sure if the TWL_FIRM runs in DSi mode regardless of game, I'd think it was running in actual DS mode on non DSi-enhanced titles, yeah? If that is the case, then you wouldn't really have SD card access at all while running actual DS mode titles and I don't think it would be possible to make it read a rom from the SD card rather than a card from Slot-1 (most likely shuts out SD card access when you start up a DS game.)

Anyway yeah basically don't bother trying because you can just get a DS flashcard that does everything you need for like <$10
