Hacking Question about restoring NAND

Hey people,

I know that gateway can do a NAND backup from the 3DS, but if something happens to the console and i need to restore that NAND, is this the only method to restore it ?

By far, yes it is, there is no way to restore the NAND using software alternatives for now.
