There is a warning in the guide that is directed at Reinand users, directing them make sure they are using the latest version and most recent firmware files before attempting the downgrade because otherwise the downgrader will fail 100% of the time when it gets to the NFIRM. That should not be a problem for you if you are using Luma3DS (though I would double check that you are using the latest 5.5 version). The only other thing that comes to mind is to wonder if you have ever installed anything like a modified TWL_FIRM or AGB_FIRM, as these would also potentially cause errors during downgrade, same for a downgraded MSET.

I only did everything the guide told me to do so I think I haven't modified any TWL_FIRM or AGB_FIRM or downgrade MSET.

No I haven't. It is a brand new N3DS XL and the only game I played was Monster Hunter Generations. I formatted the system before attempting to start the guide.

That was gonna be my next suggestion, since the only other thing that could be wrong and causing 100% failure for the downgrade is a frankenfirmware caused by an incomplete downgrade to 9.2

Yep. Since my default version was 10.3, I had to follow the guide as is. Accessing homebrew, Downfrading to 9.2, Launching RedNAND, Downgrade to 2.1 (farthest so far was when I got errors on one click setup)

Nope. Apparently, downgrading to 9.2 on SysNAND is kinda permanent. Sir Aroth already confirmed the even if I format my SysNAND, it would be on 9.2 now instead of the original 10.3

No, run PlaiSysUpdater and "downgrade" to 9.2.0-20 instead of 2.1.0-4. It sounds like maybe one or more titles did not get downgraded right the first time.

FINAL UPDATE: Everything worked now and my unit now has arm9loaderhax. Thanks everyone! Final Question: Is it okay to treat ASI units the same as US units since ASI or Asian units can play US Cartridges? If so, should I use the 9.2.0U N3DS and 2.1.0U downgrade packs?

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. As for treating ASI as USA unites, I have absolutely no idea. I have not heard of ASI as a region prefex. If memory serves, KOR and TWN have their own upgrade/downgrade packs that have to be used (can't use another region's pack for them), so I would assume the same holds for all regions.

You can use other region cartridges, but not upgrade/downgrade packs (unless you're following a region change tutorial) or you'll brick.
