Ok guys.
I have an OLD Blue 3DS that my papa bought me in 2011.
It sort of died last year (2018) when I connected it to charge. It sparked! And now It turns off if the hinge is folded all the way back.
Obviously it is hacked! And it won't boot without SD card.
The D-Pad is faulty and the L-R button won't work if you do not blow on them.

So... I've been wanting to actually sell it...
How much would anyone pay for an Old 3DS in those conditions?

OR!
Would you recommend me to fix it and THEN sell it?

$20 including shipping cost total

If you are good at fixing things then by all means fix it and sell it. L/R buttons can be purchased on eBay for like $2 and are super easy to replace. I haven't repaired a D pad so I'm not sure without looking at it.

To be honest, a broken old 3DS is not worth much money.

No way!
I guess I'll fix it and save it for my children.
I wouldnt pass a 3ds in that condition down to anyone (broken or fixed). You are going to likely put more into it than you are to get out of it. A N3ds or N2ds is going to be overall better as it is.

Yes of course.
A New 2DS could be better to get. I just don't feel like playing it anymore, at all... like... literally at all.
I will try to fix it, and I'll see if I can sell it later.
Or like I said... fixing it and save it for my children (when I get one)

From an economical point of view this device is probably not worth fixing with so many problems.

As already mentioned replacing the corroded (L) and (R) is jokingly easy (moisture from your breath temporary fixes the problem but makes the corrosion worse over time and could damage other parts inside). The not working D-pad is certainly worse. Those switches are directly on the mainboard. No idea if they can be repaired and/or replaced (easily).

Turning off when fully open… likely some damaged ribbon cable going to the upper screen assembly. Replacing this is work and requires patience. Since you don’t know what is causing the problem it will most likely be trial and error (with the risk of damaging parts from a donor console) or replacing everything which is expensive.

Attempting this repair is an interesting project if you do not have money on your mind (you will probably not make any profit or even loose money when selling after successful repair – not speaking of the work you would have to put in). I guess the only way to get some money from it is trying to sell it for very cheap in it's current bad condition.

I'm aware. It'd be interesting to try and fix it for myself. I sort of like it y'know?
But I've been out of luck in the past, like with my last DS Lite, the L button was faulty, and I opened the console to clean it, and somehow one fuse fucked up and it wouldn't turn on anymore. So I gotta be careful because that's happened with cellphones too and a Game Boy.

It's weird! Because I can fix other things like stereos or even a fuking washing machine. And if someone else asks me to fix THEIR stuff nothing happens, but with mine I fuck up sometimes.
Not all the times, but sometimes.
