Wait, standalone mGBA does have upscale options, just turn on GPU-accelerated renderer and configure Hi-res scaling.

Oh, that's great. I'll try it out, thanks!
Oh DAMN, pixel-perfect screen size option even without upscaling in standalone mGBA looks AMAZING on the OLED screen. FFI looks super duper crisp. Man, I'm tempted to make switch my go-to nds gaming too even with 3ds having 2 screen and all but it's kinda sad when I think about how useless my 3ds has become outside of 3ds gaming lol. :(

As the title sugested, where do you prefer emulating said handheld and why?
NDS games are designed for dual screens, they don't play quite right on any other device. Side by side probably works best, but there are games that use both screens as a single screen to display a double height picture, like shmups and arcade games, which obviously doesn't work very well with side by side at all, that leaves you with an image only filling 1/3 of the screen. It's not a great experience either way.
GBA however should be pretty much flawless on Switch, so it's up to you what you prefer.

I don’t care for the emulation experience on the Switch, but that’s mostly because Switch hacking is a chore. I prefer playing my games on my 3DS, mostly because it’s just a better user experience. Booting into a CFW or homebrew on the 3DS is just easier and less tasking than on the Switch. Although, I have moved a lot of my emulation to my Retroid Pocket 2+.
