I've heard time and time again how the DS is very similar to the n64 in processing power, etc. Now i've also heard through flashcarts you can use the DS to play NES, SNES and other consoles' games. So i was wondering if anyone knew about some emulator that lets you play n64 on the ds. It'd be uber to play OoT on my DS!

Will Never happen. The DS has the same grapics capibilities as the N64 but to emulate a system you need one that is quite a bit more powerful. SNES emulators for DS are still buggy and N64 is only just been made possible on the PSP which is more powerful than the DS. Sorry but it will not happen. Games could be remade for the DS or ported but not emulated.

Why would you want emulation on a system that's basically the same thing anyway?
To play old games on which won't be released on DS

The DS is slightly more powerfull then the Nintendo 64 but will never be able to emulate it. Porting from Nintendo 64 to DS is possible though.

i know why i would
starfox64,both zelda games especially OoT,perfect dark and smash bros
i also wouldn't mind pilot wings and mario kart for the 64
it would have weird controls even if it could emulate perfectly im just saying there are many reasons to have an emu

come on nintendo uniqueness if fine but port the classics

perfect dark, smash bros... star fox 64....

star fox 64 the best star fox there has been
star fox assault ... sucks ¬¬

hope star fox command "re-gets" the snes style!

Actually the DS graphics capabilities surpasses N64 and can draw 120,000 polygons/sec while the N64 can only draw 100,000 polygons/sec. The only thing that the N64 got on the DS is the processor speeds and the color output which is 21 bit, the DS only can output 18-bit.

No, I didnt laugh.

The N64 also had hardware texture filtering... Big plus IMO.

It's not possible: period. Snes on GBA was possible because it was a 17mhz emulating a 3mhz.

I'm pretty sure a 30spf emulator for n64 would crash at init.

Oh boy, I just passed the Nintendo logo! only 30 mintes to go! *crash*

...

Nooo!

Nothing to do with the thread and my first post, but I must say to alexp2_ad that your sig is amazing. Did you manage to run Zombies on the DS?

admit it Oot would be incredibly awesome on the DS. Super Smash Bros... not as much. Me and my friends have noted a significant difference between the first and second smash bros. I used to kick arse in the first one because i hit the buttons hardest. My friend kicks my arse in the seconds because he clicks
the buttons quicker. I don't want to punch a hole in my DS yet. Yoshi Story on DS would be awesome. The incredibly (and strange) cuteness of yoshi in my pocket all the time in varying colors!

Anyone know how much RAM the N64 expansion pack gave it?

And tehraf3, how would you be able to port it?
O.O What does porting mean anyways? Sorry, i never actually took time to think about what it meant.

Starfox was much better on the N64. I don't know how anyone like it for SNES tho. It had such bad graphics that me and my friends called it the square game because it was so heavily pixelated. HA! YOU SEE ME SQUARE THAT SQUARE? IT WAS ALL: SQQQUAAARRRREEEE!!!! Distance was hard to make with 2-D graphics. The only game i think that was good 2-D that looked 3-D was NFSU2 for GBA. That looked convincing.

If the N64 can have 21-bit, and the DS can have 18-bit, can't you just downconvert the ROM on your PC so it's slightly optimized? At this point we're talking about infinitely patching ROMS and recreating the game...

But if anyone can successfully recreate OoT to work on DS, i will kiss their feet and worship them like a god.

BTW, FunkySkunk, what project are you working on now?

When are you people going to start to think a little ?

Its just not possivel... To make a N64 game workable on any other place than the N64, it would require much more power, on the cpu, graphics, etc.

Not even if you do overclock with your DS, your going to get it to work...

And StarFox was an excelent game on Snes, Its like a classic nowadays !
