Why would anyone want to play this online? It's supposed to be played locally. Playing online would feel just as boring as playing with the CPU. They would still be strangers you aren't allowed to talk to.

It's Mario Party, not chess. It's mostly a game of luck, like a little stupid random mini game skill thrown in. The truth is you'd still be home alone, getting drunk and/or high by yourself, yelling at the TV, playing a game made for children. That's fun when you have friends over, you are all together, laughing joking, telling stories, listening to music, maybe some physical contact, etc. You don't have to take the game too seriously, and it doesn't matter who wins, everyone has fun. I don't want to play online with a bunch of nerds who calculate best strategy and practice all the time. I'd have to do that too to stay competitive. I'd have to stay sober during the game. I'd end up losing. Where's the fun in that? I'd rather just watch my TV shows and Netflix or put on a casual game, or maybe a single player game if the mood hits. Online in Splatoon is gonna suck just like online in most games. It will be like playing Laser Tag in real life. You always lose, because some of your opponents inevitably take it way more seriously and kick your ass. I don't even know how adults find so much time to play. After work, internet, tv, chores, projects, eating, socializing, sleeping, there is very little time left for video games.

I think lack of online isn't a big deal.

The big deal for me is that they seem to have gone back 2 steps with gameplay and every single video game reviewer is basically saying it sucks.

Locked DLC using amiibos is also pathetic.

I've saw a few lets play of this game and everyone I watch is having ridiculous amounts of fun with their friends/family.

Are you guys looking at this from a gamers perspective or a party-game perspective? j/w
