Every 30 mintues I play Luigi's Mansion 2 on my 3ds, I get "An exception occured" error screen. I was beginning to think I needed to delete my save data, so what I did was I backed it up using check point and did a fresh reinstall. Only to find that creating a new save file and letting the opening cinematic play out normally crashed the game like it's have been. I recreated the crash several times and it's all in the same spot where egadd is about to speak.

I tried getting help with this in the Homebrew Discord but they refused to help me. I don't have my original cart that I dumped the game from, and this recently started happening to me. Someone please help me.

something is corrupted if your original cart still works then it might be your dump is messed up

This is also happening with Animal Crossing recently, something I downloaded through the nintendo eshop and I haven't touched that title for more than a year.

If the save itself isn't corrupted, it's definitely the files themselves, so check your SD card for errors first and foremost, then try reinstalling the game. If you don't have the CIA of it available, just find it on one of the many repositories. Just for the record, saves CAN cause that to happen if corrupted, but the error message is different (in the dump).

I scanned the SD card and no errors were found. I'll try again to see if this is still happening.

Ok so the game isn't crashing in spots it was before. I'll come back to this post if it happens again though.

So, problem still isn't solved. I wonder if I have to get a new 3ds entirely to fix this.
Little note: This didn't start happening until I removed the mods from my 3ds Smash Bros game.

the number one cause of encryption errors is corruption either in the sd card or its contents but there are a lot of files and folders to dig through . . . its easy enough to spot though its filename will be a garbled line of text and or it will be a file thats impossibly large in size
