In the latest 2.2.0 update, traditional and simplified Chinese support have been removed. Anyone know why?

My guess would be that Nintendo has decided not to pursue the Chinese market, and that the extra characters are a waste of space.
But I admit this doesn't really make sense - what with the new pokemon games including chinese translations for the first time.
Maybe Nintendo intends to keep region locking, but only for China - and will produce a chinese exclusive switch. It's all conjecture.
