Is the gamecube too recent for a Classic version yet?

Far too recent of a console. Hell, Nintendo is still selling usb to gamecube adapters and getting them to even work with the switch. Not going to happen for a long time. This whole retro console comeback is just a short lived phase that wont come back around for quite a while.
It's not just a phase. Everyone wanted consoles like the NES/SNES classic for ages now, and they finally delivered with great success.

too soon, plus we can get few remasters, remake in HD and such on the switch!

a Classic cost like £50 or so a switch game cost £50 or so if they did a remasters of games it would be very profitable.

plus a GC game is more then 1GB, how many games would it need, 20 or 30. thats bit of storage needed.

Two plus two is four / Minus one that's three, quick maths

Even current highend ARM soloutions have a problem emulating gamecube games. And most of the classic releases have been based on low end ARM SOCs. Doubt we'll see a gamecube classic for another 4 or 5 years and that is being generous.

I most certainly would love to see a N64 classic, although seeing that the gamecube is almost 20 years old and that technology is getting better really fast i wouldn't dismiss the idea entirely

It's not. Nowhere near powerful enough, CPU wise, especially so undocked. The Shield TV isn't powerful enough for consistent, playable GC emulation, and since the Switch's SoC is an underclocked, lower spec version of the Shield TVs it's simply not going to work well enough for "Nintendo quality" VC. GC VC, if released at all, will require ports (which is more likely seeing how they're having Nvidia develop Wii ports for the Shield TV), or lots of inaccurate hacks, something Nintendo likely wouldn't do.

As to a "GC Classic", as mentioned it's not old enough, and cheap hardware isn't at the point where it could easily emulate the Gamecube yet.
Yeah, that's what I thought, but the noobs spamming Twitter and the Temp with "Ninty where is my GC VC?????!!!!" almost made me change my mind.
