so my friend has some backed up saves from games he downloaded on the eshop. Only thing is he lost the 3ds, called nintendo to unlink the nnid, registered that nnid with a new 3ds he bought, then found the lost 3ds but he wants to get some of the saves back. The 3ds with the saves is a n3ds 10.6 that i can downgrade (hoping it doesn't brick). Is there any way possible to get those saves back?

You could export them to an SD card with JK save manager and import them to the new one with the same app.

There might be a way to do it easier but I don't know of one.

he backed it up via system settings i forgot to say that. Idk if JK save manager can get that save from there

Nothing I know of opens the official backups, but he can install matching cias and have the saves auto-restored while removing the gift wrap from those...

thank you i will try this, the saves won't go away after a downgrade right?
