Hacking In layman's terms, what does Gateway 2.6 actually do?

I thought emunand was sandboxed. That would include roms too, then?

If you have full kernel access you can break out of the sandbox, by basically turning off emunand.
Send a machine code to CPU and ask it to redirect access back to NAND chip. Then wipe it.
And yes this MUST be done on purpose.


I dont know how 3DS works, this is standard computing knowledge, so correct me if I am wrong.
 
so what exactly does this give homebrew devs the didnt have access to before, and how? yes sound has been mentioned but what else will we see 3d emulation sooner rather than later now?
