So I downloaded a randomized copy of pokemon Y and i can't open the game. I tried updating it in the eshop but I get the error code 007-2920. please help. I also can't repair it
yeah, could have the wrong region. those will not update with the eshop despite the update nag. I've update all of my games, the last being inside story, but I had to search for I think it was update 1.05. I had to delete a bad update via fbi. you can see the region and title id of the game through there.
That false update message prompt happens when an installed game is registered like 0.0.0 ver or something, and the 3ds thinks that it's outdated and needs an update, even if the game doesn't have any updates, so when you try to do it it'll fail. But this is unrelated to the issue here, and yeah could be a region thing.
there have been a couple times where the right region, usa, as my 3ds wouldn't update the game for some reason. I had to update it manually. I'm not banned either as I checked if I could access my friends list a few weeks ago, and I can, no issues.
it might be the title id. I think that's how it knows there's an update rather than the region itself as updates will be nagged even if the eshop is of a different region. you can find the title id in fbi btw.
