Does a factory reset on the Wii U deletes/resets the Wii mode?

factory reset only clears data it doesn't fix the IOS etc.

yep, if you want a fix you prob need to send your wii u to nintendo under warrenty repairs and hope they don't find the exploit

I've been trying to softmod it so I can play wii games and I think I managed to brick it (it's locked in a black screen and I waited for a short while since it usually comes on quite quickly).

Just a silly question? why try to soft mod it in the first place. What WII games won't play in virtual WII mode. Now if your trying like Homebrew channel I can understand. I guess your statement isn't really clear.
