Gaming Guitar For Wii

Ok, I'm thinking of buying a guitar off ebay for my wii, but I've read somewhere (can't remember where) that certain guitars only work for certain games is this true and is there a guitar that plays all of them?

guitar hero guitars only work on guitar hero games and rock band guitars only work on rock band games.

from what ive heard dont get the pega brand guitar because they wont last.
an theres alot of those on ebay so watch out.

rockband stuff only works with rock band.
guitar hero stuff only works with guitar hero.
It was recently announced that the GH world tour stuff would work with Rockband2 - that also might mean that the GH 3 guitars will work with RockBand2.

For what its worth, i've played with the GH guitar which DealExtreme sell, and thats OK. Also used the Njoy guitar (amazon) and that was very poor. The Datel VII guitar (amazon) is the best of the bunch.
