Hardware GHII whammy bar broke

well, my brother threw the guitar (cuz hes a prick)and the spring in the whammy bar broke. so when i try to put it in normal position, it flops down. so i flip it backwards, but now the problem is it takes to long to reach and pull it. anyone know how to fix? i'll take it apart if need be

yes cuz i'm going to try and bid over $61 for a game controller when i could probably fix it for much less.

I had a similar problem with one of my GHII guitars.

The way I resolved my issue is not a way you may not wish to do so. I took it apart and played around with the insides until I got it working again. It turned out that one of the connectors to the strum bar had broken off which was causing the issue. I replaced it with some tinfoil and glued it in and now it works fine.
