Apple gamecenter help

i was trying to add one of my friends today on gamecenter on my ipod touch 4g (4.2.1 jb'ed with greenpois0n rc6) and every time i type in his name and hit send request, it says its an invalid name... i have tried a few more friends with the sqme result. i also dont know what this is about, but on the bottom left where the profile option is, it says sandbox (it never said that before)
