I got the one from Club nintendo, and if you have something sturdy but super slim you can put it in like the top where that hole is, but it erases your high scores and the time clock you have set. Even though it seems a waste of battery, you're not supposed to turn it off really. Mine is gathering dust, sadly...while showing the time and Mr. G&W bouncing that ball.

idk never got the new ones but my old 80s one that i have in my desk drawer turns off after a amount of time unless you have alarm set

I would imagine you just leave it and it turns itself off.

At least that's how some other small games like that work.
