Hacking From 4.5 gateway to...???

Hi

I have a 3ds xl running on 4.50 and use a gateway for my games.
I also have an acecard flashcard (which I can update with my ds light} so I could do the magnet trick.

How to proceed from here?
Can I update the 3ds to latest firmware and start from there or should I stay on 4.50 and go from there?
Some pointers to wikis, guides will do.

If your acekard works in your 3ds right now, you should be good with using it to hack your 3ds and install the latest firmware. Either way, it's entirely possible, and the gateway will be sailing into the rubbish bin soon!
