Extraction speeds make no sense

I have a laptop with a small 250 GB SSD as it's main drive and also a regular HDD 1 TB. When I extract something from the main drive to itself the speeds are slow like 28 mb/sec, but when I extract from SSD to the regular HDD which is supposed to be slower, and I thought it was slower to extract to another drive I get around 100 mb/sec. Can't make sense of it.

Archive unpacking relies on your CPU more than the I/O of the disk. When extracting on your OS drive, you have to figure in the CPU load coming from everything else, as well as the OS itself. The type of archive being unpacked comes into play, too, because higher compression algorithms will have higher CPU load.

Maybe it's because you're both reading and writing to the SSD simultaneously?

Do you noit realise some ssds, especially if you cheap out on it or got the wrong specs it can run slower than hdds in some circumstances.

What brand/type of ssd (2.5" or NVMe) do you have? Cheap models tend to have slow read/write speeds.
