Hi! Be careful when selling texture packs... if you’re going to set a price based on the effort involved, try not to remove details like the protagonist’s belly button or abs, because it makes the pack look like no real effort went into it and you just let a machine take care of it. Also, if you’re charging for this, you should at least redo the on-screen lettering; the upscaled text is noticeably warped, and that takes away from the value of the work you’re claiming.

That texture for your example used, of ASH by default if i remember correctly was 128x128.
I had drawn this texture at 1024x1024 and as you can see, ive put in more detail into it than the original texture.
Regarding the belly button, you are correct and I had missed that and as for his abs, rather than making them appear as solid marks, ive tried to go for a soft shadowing to try mimicking the appearance of abs, and as if it also shows shading off his shirt.
The text however is not as straightforward in this game as you imply, and ive noticed this in other games too.
Ideally I wanted to manually use a font and type the full alphabet so it would be alot better.
But the problem in game is that if each letter is not 100% placed as it is in the default textures then parts of each letter will overlay into other letters and cause crap to show in subtitles and other text.
So I redraw them making it look like less say a comic book type text.
In regards to charging thus your opinion of it been to such standards as if it were to be like an official remastering of a game.
That isnt the case and as is with all other texture packs in the scene. Firstly the fee I ask for in return is a really tiny amount and to be completely honest, for someone to moan about it makes them look like a bit of a moaning Karen.
At no point is anyone forced to use it, its not like I am pushing it onto anyone.
£2.99 is pretty much nothing considering the time and quality put into it.
Also whats not taken into consideration is that i myself is hosting the texture packs on my personal dedicated server.
Im not hosting them on free serves where links go dead, this will remain online permanently and as I have pretty much unlimited bandwidth, you will get let's say premium download speeds to what your bandwidth will allow you to download it at.
The texture pack will only ever become broken or missing is if I manually delete it, which isnt going to happen or if my server has any technical issues and goes down, which has never happened during the 7 years of me having it.
If that were to happen, as soon as the issue is resolved, it'll resume as with anything it can only guarantee say 99.9% uptime.
But I can guarantee that the links will 100% remain active and never be dead links.
Well, until I die that is, which touch wood this cancer shit doesn't kill me.
I only started doing this because the treatment has completely fucked my body up, im crippled and cant work anymore.
Rather than been stuck there getting depressed, I distract myself by doing this rather than doing nothing and having be alone in my head with my thoughts.
Also as its very hard to go from working and bringing in a very good pay salary now to pretty much nothing.
Its just an attempt to try bring a little bit here or there than can be saved up to try put towards bills or whatnot, but im not enforcing my problems into anyone else.
If one doesnt like to pay a tiny fee towards the time and effort put into creating better quality texture packs then thats ok. Im not forcing anyone to use it.
And if say user doesnt like to pay a tiny fee they dont have to, nor do they have to complain about the fact someone is asking for a tiny fee.
End of the day, if said user demands that everything be given to them for free, then there is plenty out there that is free, maybe they stick to those that are free than moan at ones that aren't.
I mean it not difficult for em to just scroll on and ignore it.
Its not going to deter me from remastering PS2 games, im never going to charge more than £5..... im easy going and even dropped to lower after I was informed (which i didnt realise) currency difference, that £5 in $ is more than 5.
So i dropped it lower so that in $ its not higher than $5.
