My daughter's switch got put in the dock backwards (not by her).
She noticed and flipped it around, but now it doesn't charge or let her play on the big screen.
If I pull the power cable and plug it up directly it does in fact charge.
Is there some way to fix this?

Either you damaged the dock or the connection from the switch outputting to the TV. Worth trying with another official dock.

I had a situation once where it wouldn't charge, I didnt flip the switch in the dock tho, I removed the ac plug from wall for about 15 mins and the sorted that out.
cant imagine nintendo letting you put the switch in the dock backwards if it was gonna cause that kind of damage

Try flipping the known working charger, if it doesn’t charge then 1 row of pins got damaged if not the. Just dock pins are the issue. My son tried plugging my apple cord into his switch, then he kept trying to dock it and yeah had to put a new port on the switch and the dock. The dock male connector is actually very easy todo as it’s no soldering but the switch port itself is only able to be reflowed back on. And then it’s a huge learning curve bc of the plastic melting on you. Took me 3 tries but hey when it’s only 1.76$ usd a port that’s cheap to learn with
