YUP you are right..... One that has all of that is the best HDD

ROFLMFAO

Break it down....

Cheap - not that expensive.
Subjective. To Donald Trump $10k would be o.k. Who's buying?

Lasts long.
To a fly with a one day life cycle 2 days is another lifetime......

Fair amount of storage
Fair to who? To the software publisher Zero would be good. To a Pirate...shit loads would be "reasonable"

Go to Best Buy, TODAY! and pickup the Antec MX-1 Enclosure, I scream today because it's only 49.99, sale ends tonight. Then throw in what ever SATA drive you wish...Profit.

This way, as your needs expand, you can just pop in a new drive, this case includes a very silent fan inside, so keeps the drive cool as you game with resort.

I have this enclosure, and a 320, I believe WD drive, and 4.1/rev14 all work with it, very happy with the purchase.

And to boot, if you have a desktop with an available SATA Channel, there is an eSATA bracket inside the box, and yest the eSATA cable is included, so if you wanted to, you get a slightly faster transfer speed when moving the isos.

Hope this helps

WD passport "essential" edition and seagate go seem to be two popular drives, if your by walmart i think they just dropped the price on WD 250gb passport to $60 which is pretty decent price

also avoid the larger elite/pro/desk/my books drives unless you know someone that will confirm that model works, seems some the fancier ones people have reported more issues

here is list of drive models that have been reported to work or not work

I got a "Ultra Speed" branded HDD with 500GB that works like a charm and I only pay $70 can for it, so I would say this one is the best...!!

I've had good experiences with WD My Passport 250gb, WD MP 320gb, and Seagate Free Agent Go 500gb.

You get what you pay for. I can confirm that 500gb Seagate Freeagent Go hdds are excellent, and well worth every penny. Not only are they the smallest and most compact available, they have perfect compatiblilty, software to disable standby mode (don't rely on loaders to solve this), they are self-powered when you turn on the Wii. I can't vouch for larger Seagates in the 1tb range, but these sleek drives are the perfect companion for USB loaders.

If you buy something cheap and reasonable now, and then wait, there will be better options in the near future. I've already seen that the self-powered compact drives are treading into 600+ gb territory, and as with all storage technology, it will only become cheaper as time goes on. I don't like how larger 1tb drives are so large and bulky, and need their own power supply.
