Hardware ar dsi on 3ds

i read on the codejunkies site that you can update your ar to work on the 3ds ,but i dont have the cable isnt there a way to update it without the cable just from the sd card slot?

Please for the love of god don't get one. Compare them with say the R4i Gold 3DS and it comes out complete crap. Plus they're more expensive!
