Hacking AKRPG 8GB Memory Card Recommendations

Can anyone recommend me a 8GB card that I can run games off it without having to copy it to the internal memory?

I have a 8GB Sandisk that requires me to copy games to the internal memory for it to run.

If you haven't already, edit the sdlist.ini file with something like...

[SD Card Speed]
###### = 6000

or

[SD Card Speed]
###### = 3333

where ###### here would be replaced with the id number written by the AKRPG in your current ini file. You'd essentially be tricking the AKRPG into thinking your sdcard is fast enough. If it's something else preventing you then specify.

Did try to do that and it managed to start up the games for a little bit before it locked up.

Probably adata would be best. With transcend as a second choice. There are reports that the adata has faster random read access which is better for games. And more important than rated speed.

You may want to do some testing with different format type, cluster sizes, and even format utilities. Your results may vary depending on the current firmware you decide to go with or switch to but they will be your results.

I would try formatting Fat(16) via command line format tool (if on XP, otherwise Vistas format tool) and set cluster size to 64K. I've done it on a 4GB sdcard but I don't have a 8GB sdcard to try it on. Command line would look something like format x:/fs:fat or format x:/fs:fat/a:64K where x is the drive of the sdcard. format /? will provide a list of available flags and what they do.

You can't format anything larger than 4GB with FAT 16, for that you'll have have to use FAT 32.

The speeds quoted are not minimum speeds which class goes by.
I think sandisk premier are class 4.
The have an ultra version also which is class 6.
The cards are basically the same as the regular sandisks in a ds afaik.

Not sure which 8gb would be best as there dont seem to be many tests done apart from with sandisks.

What is the maximum MB per second that the akrpg card can handle? It appears the web site mistates the sandisk card as a "premier" card. From the sandisk official website it appears that the card is really a sdhc compatible mobile ultra card. The official website is
