The hostility usually comes when people ask questions that could have been answered if they had just done a quick forum or google search. When half the posts now days are frankly dumb questions that could have been answered by doing a google search or reading through one of the stickied threads, I can see how so many people are becoming hostile. Especially when half of the questions are even being asked repeatedly. It's starting to become where most of the threads in this section are people who can't be arsed to do any kind of research themselves to find the answer.

Like installing CFW on ps3 latest firmware just because possible. Instead of creating threads asking questions, I searched and found answers to every single question I've had so far. I'm now installing homebrew, emulators, and even playing backups. It's a good skill that unfortunately some people don't seem to have.
What I find ironic is that they teach you how to Google in school. Granted most research papers only allow specific sources, but still.

Can't say I'm not guilty of asking stupid questions. However, this one was obvious. It's pre Citra all over again.

The main thing I learned about researching for school is you can't use wikipedia as a source, but wikipedia will list it's sources, and those you actually can use. It's a good way to find a collection of sources for a specific topic.

I think I should clarify this: my question isn't about piracy. It's about the technology. I find the aspect of emulation to be fascinating. I could care less about retail.... but I would really like to see a switch runtime environment, for homebrew devs to have a 1:1 version of a switch to play with. And on the note of piracy: I may not care, but there are other people who do want it....

The main use of emulation for older systems is being able to play games that can no longer be bought or plsy games for consoles that are no longer sold. The main use of emulation for newer systems is one part debugging, one part mod testing, and one part being able to play certain games online where this was never possible (e.g. Melee netplay, MHFU online rooms), with some TAS sprinkles.

Regardless, please stop attacking people for what they want or what they don’t want, it just makes everyone look childish. It’s a waste of both your time and the mods’ time to have to deal with this shit; if you don’t want to answer someone’s question, don’t even bother posting in the thread.

As for OP: Yes, it’s fairly early to expect emulation, especially well done emulation. Dolphin took until around 5.0, nearly ten years after the release of the Wii, to be able to accurately run every Wii game thrown at it; CEMU is only now beginning to run games like MH3U, and it’s been five years since the release of the Wii U.

Basically, check back in 2021, maybe progress will have started by then.

Let's be honest, we are talking about Nintendo products here!

The same company who takes down fan games, sells downloaded ROMs on the Virtual Console, demonitises positive video coverage and under-produces a device which emulates NES games, then state how much they hate emulation.

If you honestly think for even a single second that it is immoral to pirate Nintendo-developed first-party games (not talking about the third-party or indie devs) then you are either insane, a massive fan, or you work for Nintendo.

Anyway, I have legally purchased all of my Switch games, so if I were to hypothetically download a dumped ROM of a Switch game that I own and emulate it, no-one is losing out; Nintendo's made their money and I am enjoying their game.

That's just my opinion.

(The only other game I would support piracy for is EA's Star Wars Battlefront II for obvious reasons...)
